Re: Mac mini e-GPU

Could you elaborate on what does not work. I have a new Mac Mini with EGPU. The command line version of Handbrake seems to work fine. However, I am just now trying to rip a DVD with the regular version (the command line is used for downloaded files). The program launches but says that I need to inst...

Re: Cannot add picture to video after upgrading.

Has anyone figured out an answer for this? This seems like the problem I am having but I did not think it was Handbrakes fault. Here is the thread I started on this issue: https://forum.handbrake.fr/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=20309#p93688 If I can find (or still have) 0.9.4, I will do some testing to see i...

Re: Help, can't add cover art to HandBrake files in iTunes

Hi, Sorry I have not been around for a while. Thanks for the replys. Yes, I have quit iTunes and restarted but the artwork does not show up. This used to work like a charm. I can not figure out why it has stopped working. I can change other meta data this way, just not the artwork. I did not really ...

Help, can't add cover art to HandBrake files in iTunes

Hi, This may not be a HandBrake issue at all, however I thought it would be a good place to ask as it is related to files I have converted with HandBrake. A few months ago, prior to HandBrake 0.9.5, I ripped all of my Lost Episodes and put them in iTunes for access via my Apple TV. Once in iTunes, I...

Re: HandBrake Preset description site

I did not realize that the process used to get Boxee on an Apple TV included installing a different OS. I thought it was just installing an application on the existing OS. Anyway, I will see if I can play the HP videos directly from iTunes. You may be correct in that they may not play that w...

Re: HandBrake Preset description site

Rodeo,

Hey, your back.

Well, I certainly don't know anything about 'b-pyramid' or 'weightp enabled', however, I play the files through Boxee installed on my 1st Gen Apple TV. That may take care of the issues you mention. I don't know. Way outside my area of expertise ;-).

Regards,

John

Re: HandBrake Preset description site

@ Mike, I hear you about the 'double compression'. I don't believe that the one I use, MactheRipper, does any compression. Just compared the size of a couple of my disks to the ISO rips I did and they match within a few bits. On their forums they usually say that if you want to burn to a DVD, then y...

Re: HandBrake Preset description site

Mike, As far as the reduction in quality, I believe that that is to be expected based on the fact that it is doing data compression on the file. Now, the extend of the reduction in quality could be anywhere from huge to unnoticeable depending on your settings. That is where I start getting lost :-)....

Re: HandBrake Preset description site

@Dave, First, sorry if you see another response from me. I had typed up a rather lengthy reply and when I hit 'Submit', the forum choked and it dissapeared. :x So, I will try again. I was really hoping to find some type of comparison chart that would give information about what each preset would and...

Re: HandBrake Preset description site

Well, that makes me feel better that I'm not completely loosing it. Since you asked  I have several devices but don't necessarily need one file to fit them all. Those devices are: Primary and of most concern (going to stream from my Synology NAS on which I wish to build my movie library:...

Re: HandBrake Preset description site

Rodeo, Thanks for the reply, however, the site you listed is the standard tutorial one that I had already seen. I thought that I remembered another site that went into more 'general' explanations than that. As an example, the tutorial says for High Profile: general-purpose preset for High Profile H....

HandBrake Preset description site

Hi, I may be loosing it with old age :( but I could swear that at one time there was a site that contained detailed descriptions/comparisons of each of the HandBrake Presets. I'm not talking the current tutorial that simply tells you the specific settings but actually explained each one in 'plain en...

Re: MKV to MP4 or MP4 to MKV, Which is better

@Rodeo - Thanks, I'll have a look at Subler to see if it meets my needs better than doing a second encode. http://forum.handbrake.fr/posting.php?mode=reply&f=6&t=18207# @TedJ - Thanks for the head up on mkvtoolnix, however, it appears to be more in depth than I am looking for. Not being a programmer...

Re: MKV to MP4 or MP4 to MKV, Which is better

My first question is would it be better to do two separate conversions from the iso image (one in MP4 and one in MKV) or would it be better to convert to MKV and from there, to MP4 (or vise versa)? Any suggestions on quality issues, audio issues, conversion speed, etc. If by "and from there, to MP4...

MKV to MP4 or MP4 to MKV, Which is better

Folks, sorry if this is a newby question. I have searched the forums and understand that video can be converted from MKV to MP4 or vis versa. Just wondering if one of these results in better quality. Let me explain what I have. I have a Synology NAS which offers DLNA support, an OPPO-83 which only s...
