Re: HandBrake 0.9.9 Discussion

Sorry if this has been discussed before. Previously with 0.9.8 i've been encoding blu-rays quite happily with dimensions 1280x720, and I guess internally it's setting the PAR width/height such that it plays with the original aspect ratio (after cropping!). Quickly skipping over the question of is th...

Re: dts passthrough in mp4

Yes I had noticed there was a check in to ffmpeg a few months ago for this, so I tried updating to VLC nightly, which allegedly makes use of the latest ffmpeg. Unfortunately this didn't seem to play my mp4+dts file. So not sure precisely where the problem lies. I was hoping someone could confirm if ...

dts passthrough in mp4

Hi,

I notice that with recent handbrake nightlies (and presumably 0.9.6) it's possible to passthrough dts audio to an mp4 file. This is exactly what I want to do, but unfortunately can't find a player which supports this. Has anyone been able to play such files?

Thanks,
David

Encoding BluRay to 720p for ipad

Hi, I'm currently looking at encoding my blurays to MP4s, to play on a HD TV and ipad. My understanding is that the ipad preset keeps the same storage aspect ratio as the original blu-ray and reduces the width to 1024. This matches the ipad resolution and ensures it's easily within L@3.1, but typica...

Re: Acceptable parameters for iPhone 3GS/iPad

Ok: so the source DVD has 30px black bars on either side, which gives an effective storage dimension of 660x576. The preset says 720 width, so it rescales to 720x624 which causes it to be 3.1 rather than 3.0. Reducing the width manually as you suggest seems to work - just reencoding now. Maybe a use...

Acceptable parameters for iPhone 3GS/iPad

I've recently ripped a load of DVDs to H.264, using a custom preset. Primarily for viewing on my AppleTV(+XBMC) and Archos 5 which works very well, but would also be nice to get it to work on the iPhone (3GS) and iPad. Is anyone able to describe which parameters are and are not supported by the iPho...
