Is this a Valid encode script?
This seems to work perfectly fine for me, and I like the new x264 options. Just wanted to throw it out here to make sure I wasn't missing something. I think the --audio-fallback could go away, but I just kept it in since it seems to do no harm. Is the -B 640 necessary? Path=/myth/HandBrake_Encodes/ ...

Re: Valid script
OK, so I could remove the fallback option and it would function the same? My test case has a DTS audio track, so the copy:ac3 would revert to the ffac3 option? That's perfect if so.
So how or why would one use the audio-fallback option?

Valid script
Anything look incorrect here? I've had audio fail on a couple of encodes, so I put in the --audio-fallback option. Running a test currently on Project X (DTS audio), but posting here also since it's still running. Path=/home/myth/Videos/HandBrake\ Encodes/ # # nice HandBrakeCLI -i "$1" -o ...

Have you tried the --audio-copy-mask and --audio-failback commands?

Re: Mythbuntu recording tracks getting cut short.
Are you cutting commercials out? If so, check your <source>.mpg.tmp file and be sure it is good. MythTV will sometimes chop out part of the transcode if the original stream has errors.

Re: svn4351 - HandBrakeCLI crashes during encode of .ts file
Thanks for the clip. It's an out of memory condition. 32-bit windows has a 2GB limit. I made an improvement that should fix the problem which should show up in the next nightly. https://trac.handbrake.fr/changeset/4353 4353 did fix my problem with the out of memory segmentation fault. I'm using Ubu...

Re: Error loading Mythtv Transcoded file
My problem started with 4338 https://trac.handbrake.fr/changeset/4338
Probably the ffmpeg update?
Think 4341 fixed my issue too? I'll update and check later today.

[Fixed]Error loading Mythtv Transcoded file
It seems that the latest version of Handbrake will no longer read mpeg files generated by MythTV mythtranscode. This file plays just fine in any player. I get this same error in both CLI and GTK. Any ideas? Did I just screw something up on my end? Oh, also if I rename the file dropping the .tmp exte...

Re: Audio sync issues
Just checked the original MKV rip. Seems the issue might be with VLC. I get the same audio issue when playing the uncompressed mkv in VLC (1.1.9), but if played in Movie Player (2.32.0) the audio sync's up correctly. I'll investigate further. FYI Encode finished up. Same issue with DTS passthrough. ...

Testing that now using the DTS passthrough option. Picked a chapter to encode, so an hour or so left for it to finished.

Audio sync issues
Using svn 4196 I've noticed audio sync problems when using ffmpeg AC3. The bluray was Limitless and the encode was done from a MakeMKV rip with lossless audio. (pulled from the other audio sync thread per Rodeo's instruction) Let me know what other information you need. Handbrake Version: 4196svn (2...

Re: Building a workhorse, advice?
Wow, thanks for all the links! I'd say the 2nd pass is the important one to look at. I normally do CRF, or only single pass CBR encodes for iphone streaming. That i7 chip does have a larger advantage over the X6 than I had expected, and yet the X6 slightly edged out the i5. Maybe the Turbo Core tech...

Re: Building a workhorse, advice?
I-7 is about $100 more than the 6 core AMD. If performance is on par I'll definitely go with AMD. From quick glance at the benchmark forum I didn't see anyone with data for a 6 core AMD chip. I'll dig deeper later. Thanks for the reply.

Re: Building a workhorse, advice?
Does this statement include the 6 core AMD chips? I'm building a new machine in the next couple months too and was planning on going with AMD.TedJ wrote:While there's nothing wrong with AMD's solutions, especially on a bang for buck basis, they simply can't touch Intel's offerings for encoding performance.

Re: Muxing: ...MP4ERROR
Ah, thanks! I didn't expect a 10 gig file to still be over 4 gig after encoding. Normally I get about files about 25% the size of the original mpg. I don't normally encode basketball games either though.

Re: Best settings for 720P?
Here's what I use. Simply High Profile with the x264 Slower settings enabled. On a dual core intel 2.93 Ghz a bluray can take a good 24-30 hours sometimes though, so maybe drop to the Slow settings of you want faster encodes. Instead of the -X tag, could use -Y 720 also. Change the -q value for larg...

Re: Help with x264 options
Ah, I understand. Comma works for me, so I changed all my scripts back to psy-rd=1,0.15. Linux is still somewhat new to me, so my coding knowledge is limited. Just to make sure I'm getting the picture, this would work under any usage?
Thanks for all your help!

x264 options; Analysis=All same as Partitions=All?
I recently noticed, thanks to this https://forum.handbrake.fr/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=19426 sticky that the Slower options were listed as analyse=all. When I put my scripts together a few months ago using http://mewiki.project357.com/wiki/X264_Settings#Analysis mewiki, I used partitions=all. I don't...
