Re: Can't launch Handbrake on Windows 7/8/8.1 64-bit

Thanks for the reply. Hope it is growl that is the problem, otherwise I'm stuck waiting for you guys to support quicksync via libva or via OS X 10.9.

Re: Can't launch Handbrake on Windows 7/8/8.1 64-bit

I assume you took care of both directories? https://trac.handbrake.fr/wiki/FileLocations Otherwise, I don't really have any idea I'm afraid. Short of attaching the Visual Studio debugger to it, there isn't anyway to know what's got stuck. If this is something you have and are able to do, please do ...

Can't launch Handbrake on Windows 7/8/8.1 64-bit

OK I'm at wits end here. I have several Intel only Windows 7/8 systems just using the HD4000 integrated graphics (no lucid stuff, no add in video card) and when ever I launch the gui I get a blank frame. .Net 4.0 has been cleanly installed, all Handbrake files purged from the User directories, all s...

Re: Public openCL builds

the speed gain only brings it up to what an intel i5 is capable of unaccelerated. Given that, it may never be ready since it makes no sense to add a lot of code that offers few advantages. That is fine if you have an i5 kicking around for encoding but if it can bring some improvement to processors ...

Public openCL builds

I was wondering if there was any news lately as to when the first public openCL builds will be available?

Re: [Rejected] Presets for Target Size

BTW I should also add that only from 3GS/3G onwards have the iDevices supported which are only a year old.

Re: [Rejected] Presets for Target Size

Err....modern "iDevices" support high profile h.264 at a sufficient level for the resolutions they support, and HandBrake's default settings are not even intended for mobile devices. You are not making a valid point. No? 5th Gen iPods for example only support baseline profile up to 1.5 Mb...

Re: [Rejected] Presets for Target Size

Well that's an excellent reason for us to drop it then, since it is not in our interest to make it easy for people to produce low-quality output using questionable rate control choices. I find it kind of funny all this "quality" bruhaha when handbrake caters to devices with low quality pl...

Re: [Rejected] Presets for Target Size

That would be really sad if they did remove it. I find the exact opposite. Almost everybody I know (13 users off the top of my head) that uses handbrake uses it in target size mode with the exception of one guy that uses it for ripping to an ipod. All the others use it for transcoding their HD tv ca...

Re: [Rejected] Presets for Target Size

Target filesize and a calculator, perhaps? Why would you need a calculator? The bitrates are already calculated by the target filesize option. It seems to me if you bother to even put the option of target file size in the application (even though it is not the purist's way) then at least make it a ...

Re: Presets for Target Size

I understand the emphasis on quality based modes but sometimes people just want to burn their media to optical media. In my case it's sporting events that I want to burn to DVD-9's.

[Rejected] Presets for Target Size

I apologize if this has already been requested or is already present on other OS versions of handbrake but in the linux gui at least there is no preset target sizes. Example: 1/6th DVD5, 1/5th DVD5 ...,DVD-R,DVD+R,DVD-DL. Much like how old AutoGK had.
