Re: iOS 8 can't recognize multiple audio tracks in M4V?
Hey, folks -- just wanted to put closure on this. After 7 months, it seems this has been fixed in iOS 8.3 released last week. FINALLY!

Re: iOS 8 can't recognize multiple audio tracks in M4V?
Nah, it's because of iOS's "sandboxing" rules. Safari can't pass a stream from one app to another.
It can only pass a file.
I *can* stream to my Android devices even without that setting.

Re: iOS 8 can't recognize multiple audio tracks in M4V?
All good info, guys... VLC is my fallback player -- however, it doesn't work when I'm out and about as it relies on Bonjour to discover my servers. Bonjour doesn't work when you're not on your home network, even via VPN. My only options in those cases are to use Safari, then "Open In..." V...

Re: iOS 8 can't recognize multiple audio tracks in M4V?
You're right -- if I load them direct to the iDevice, and play using the built-in Video app, both tracks are recognized.
I'm not sure DLNA has much to do with it; probably shouldn't have said it that way.
I'm just watching it via an HTTP stream direct from my NAS using Safari's built-in player.

iOS 8 can't recognize multiple audio tracks in M4V?
Hi, folks -- I've tried searching the fourm for this, but since phpBB ignores search terms less than 4 characters in length (like "ios" and "m4v") it's returning 7000 results. :) Since iOS 8 was released, my iDevices no longer recognize multiple audio tracks. When playing files v...

Re: Determining Audio Track numbers
Hey, AlBundy -- I've never seen Ruby before in my life. 'tis like parsing Esperanto. :) Looks like you're matching via regex lines that contain 'iso639-2' and some declared bits-per-second, where those lines appear AFTER the text 'audio tracks:' I think I can at least use that same logic in Perl. Th...

Determining Audio Track numbers
My script uses (used?) mediainfo to determine the number of audio tracks in a file to pass that to Handbrake: mediainfo --Inform='General;%AudioCount%' Iron\ Man\ 2.m2ts 3 In that case, Mediainfo (and ffMPEG and several others) all think there are three tracks. Not so with HandbrakeCLI: /mounts/m1> ...

Re: Encoding for WDTV Live gives odd results
Well, I can't figure any more of this out... When I set the frame rate to 23.97 manually, the encodes turn out about SMALLER (300 bytes on a 300 meg file) SAME AS SOURCE: 40,798,081 23.97 MANUAL: 40,797,725 So, it's not doing much at all to the FILEsize... Anyway, I guess I'm sunk. I can't figure ou...

REFRAMES setting is ignored.
Set ReFrames=2 in my preset; UI confirms it, but output is encoded with FOUR ReFrames. Is this a problem with MEDIAINFO, or with HB 3703? ActivityLog: Handbrake Version: svn3703 (2010121001) [14:46:14] hb_scan: path=/mounts/tv/The X-Files/Season 7/Disk 1.iso, title_index=3 libbluray/bdnav/index_pars...

Re: Encoding for WDTV Live gives odd results
Sorry; I wasn't very clear. By bad, I mean almost unwatchable. Its jerky and in places looks like the framerate is only about 8fps (subjective, of course...) Sometimes the video is smooth as silk, at other times it's just terrible. And when watching at these re-encodes across multiple SVNs, they all...

Encoding for WDTV Live gives odd results
I have a question that perplexes me so much that I'm afraid I don't even know how to ask! I've been playing some MKV files (made with HB) on my WDTV Live Hub. They are ALL from NTSC DVD material. When the HUB is set to output 60p video, they all look good. When the HUB is set to output 24p video, th...

Sounds like the CONFIGURE step failed, and the Makefile is invalid.

Re: Scanning won't find titles
That sure looks to me like a bad encode or bad rip. I had problems like that with DVDs ripped using DVD Decrypter and burned using Nero.

So, these MKVs CREATED by HandBrake from DVDs play JUST FINE. I have no problems with the results playing on VLC, my WDTV Live, PC, whatever. HOWEVER, if I try to use these MKVs as SOURCEs, to transcode them to, say, iPod, this is what I see when I load up the MKV. http://img215.imageshack.us/img215...

Well, nuts... I downloaded the SVN and compiled it with debug symbols enabled, and encoded 50+ titles. Not a single hang.

Re: Constant Quality
I used to use RF22 for all encodes. Then I encoded Avatar and noticed a lot of artifacts in Continuous-tone gradients, like the cloud scene at the very beginning of the movie. Couldn't stand it, so I changed to RF=20. Made the movie about a gig bigger, but better results. YMMV, of course...

Little Bug: OK button does not work if OPEN_FOLDER checked..
Moderator: ActivityLog and EncodeLog are not applicable. The Linux GUI has a minor bug. If you navigate into a VIDEO_TS Folder, WITHOUT the "Open folder (DVD or batch)" option checked BEFORE entering, and THEN checkmark the "Open folder (DVD or batch)" button, the filenames will ...
