Transcoding 8K H264 to H265

Description of problem or question: Hi, I purchased the beautiful movie Beneath the Sea because it's available in 8K and I have an 8K Samsung TV. The problem is that I was delivered the movie encoded in H264 (MP4 container, 31,57GB), while the TV can only play 8K movies encoded in H265. So I want t...

that would be nice

that would be nice, because as it stands, I can't do anything with that DVD, even though a number of the titles do report their size properly.

As I stated, DVD Player manages to play it fine. I suppose it just skips the ill formed title.

Nope!

No I haven't!

Actually, I am actually suspecting the culprit is the DVD. Hold on a sec while I try it out on another DVD.

Thanks for waiting. Confirmed: HB didn't crash on that other DVD.

But even in that case, it could argued that HB should be more robust handling such a situation.

Starting investigation

Hi, Following up on my own post, I started to investigate with the development tools. Since I am totally unfamiliar with HB's source code, this may all be naive and totally off-base, but anyhow... The crash is a divide by zero error in the fifth call to a routine called hb_fix_aspect on the followin...

0.9.1 under 10.5: 100% crash at opening time

Hi, When I Open my VIDEO_TS folder using HandBrake 0.9.1 under Mac OS X 10.5, I always get a crash. The VIDEO_TS folder is the output of MTR on a Pal DVD. I can play it fine with DVD Player. I apologize if that issue has already been discussed: I could not find something obviously identical on the f...

Audio breaking up with CLI

Hello, I tried encoding my DVD - the one which drops audio 100% of the time with the GUI - with the CLI. It gives a bunch of errors from libdvdread. The beginning of the terminal output follows. Errors go on and on. The error is always the same: *** libdvdread: CHECK_VALUE failed in nav_read.c:207 *...

not only

Since this issue *also* occurs on my unprotected DVDs, it is unlikely to be related to protection.

Unless there are two different issues with the same symptoms.

We are having a hard time relating input parameters to the problem. This is a nasty one.

Me too on unprotected DVD

I read only part of the topic history, so maybe my post is a duplicate. I have the audio drop on un unprotected DVD. The DVD is from a set-top DVD recorder (Sony brand). It was recorded from an old VHS tape, but that should not matter (and the quality of the video is rather poor). I then ripped that...
