Re: How-To: Automate DVD & Blu-Ray (Backup, Encoding & Taggi

I'm afraid not me, I'm a total hack. Did you mean to drop the AC3 surround track? You will also find that if you try to encode anything with less than three audio tracks it will fail to encode at all. As above, my solution is just to have a number of different batchEncode.sh files with different set...

Re: How-To: Automate DVD & Blu-Ray (Backup, Encoding & Taggi

tahitibub, I'm not sure you can set preferred language with Handbrake as AFAIK the CLI can't query the DVD to find out which track is which. For doing multiple audio tracks (in my case to pull out director's commentaries) I ended up with two batchEncode.sh files. Run with the first one which takes t...

Re: How-To: Automate DVD & Blu-Ray (Backup, Encoding & Taggi

While I still use the BatchEncode bits of this (with custom files due to the box for advanced strings being broken) I'm now ripping with RipIt (have to pay but I came across some discs where fairmount etc. just wasn't cutting it) and tagging with iDentify 2 (http://identify2.arrmihardies.com/ which ...

Re: Ipad Settings For 720p on TV

Thanks Ted, could swear I had seen it listed as only 480p somewhere (maybe a US website? which I guess would be as NTSC is only 480p isn't it?). Interestingly looks like iPhone 4 will also be usable with the VGA Dock Connector, although 576p is the same horizontal resolution so I'd go component to g...

Re: Ipad Settings For 720p on TV

Not sure why the OP is not interested in the lead as that kills the idea. AFAIK options with the iPad output are limited to 480p via the component lead or the iPad's native resolution via VGA (so not 720p as it won't do the width). By the looks of it the VGA lead doesn't have sound though so you'd p...

Re: Can Handbreak rip to MP3?

Not really.

But if you put the quality slider up as far as it will go (to speed encoding) and use a quick encoding profile you can then I believe strip out the video track using Subler.

Re: From DVD to MP4 - Best picture quality?

iStian, Part of the problem is that when people say "Qualilty is all that matters" they don't mean it. You can preserve 100% quality by moving the quality slider to 100%, but that will turn your 8GB DVD into a 40GB file that won't play on anything other than your computer (and maybe not ev...

Re: Converting a series

Have a look at mac.jedi's thread above. It has a very handy Apple Script that will scan a DVD rip for all tracks which are within a certain track range. So for a 30 minute show (22 ish minute episodes without ads) you can set it to encode everything between 20 and 30 minutes long on the disc. That w...

Re: Is dualcore or quadcore work faster

Does it depend on what encodes you're doing? I thought I had read somewhere that some filters stopped Handbrake from properly utilising multi-core setups.

Re: AppleTV Custom Presets - 0.9.4

Doesn't seem great as an advanced string given your statement you don't care about file size or encoding. cabac=1 or it just shouldn't be on this thread. Select Strict Anamorphic in the picture settings. Have a look at dynaflash's linked page to make sure you have all his options then go back throug...

Re: Sequential ripping

Are you on Mac or PC?

If Mac have a look at mac.jedi's scripts in the Mac folder.

If PC then I think there are some scripts available in the CLI folder.

Not something you can do with the GUI though AFAIK.

Re: Automatically select all audio/subtitles?

Not sure that there is, AFAIK you have to specify and Handbrake (CLI) will choke on a file if you tell it to decode 2 audio tracks when there is only one. Having said that using mac.jedi's scripts in the sticky (EDIT: thought I was in the Mac forum, not applicable if on Windows although I'm sure the...

Re: How-To: Automate DVD & Blu-Ray (Backup, Encoding & Taggi

Might it bet that BatchEncode isn't contextual? I don't ever Ctrl + <click>, just go up to "Finder" in the toolbar, pull down the dropdown and select BatchEncode from there. It appears in a separate bit to Tag etc. and I don't think it is contextual as it does everything in the Batch Rip M...

Re: Once and for all....

Because I'm using the Live I encode everything to MKV -- Apple TV won't play these files (I actually still have an Apple TV but am looking to dump it -- it will be the fourth device replaced by the Live <g>). I got away from Apple due to the @$!$% iTunes thing (what a PITA to have to encode *just* ...

Re: CLI vs Mac GUI

Thanks for taking the time to reply Rodeo. I've searched all over but can't find a stderr file. Googling has suggested it is a debugging file but I'm none the wiser as to where to find it to copy it.

If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.

CLI vs Mac GUI

Hey all, I know there are no logs (and I have read the requesting help section) but I have searched high and low and was still hoping for some help... I'm using mac.jedi's automator scripts and the file sizes I'm getting from this (which uses the CLI) are different to the file sizes from the Mac GUI...
