Sorry I've been missing for a while. I've been following your work here though, and I'm amazed. Great job with everything. I've been using the 0.7.12 binary, and it works great. I've been ripping 640x272 x.264 movies to my iPod, getting about 25-30 fps on my 1.83CD MacBook. Everything looks great. (...

I just got this from the BUILD file in the main project directory. + jam I use 2.5rc3, earlier versions might cause issues. On BeOS, you can download it at <http://www.haiku-os.org/develop.php>. On OS X, you cannot use the modified jam shipped with the developer tools, use this one instead: <http://...

My compile went fine on the Intel, although I'm still having the encoding issues with certain DVD's. I haven't looked into the compiling issues the previous Intel poster was having, but I should have some time this weekend to look at it. I was not using the OSX default version of Jam, I downloaded t...

OK. Here's another interesting test. 1h29m movie. 2-pass ffMpeg, 896kbps, 512x384 Deinterlaced 128kbps AAC Audio Got 80 fps on the 1st pass, 30 on the second (same as above), and no audio on the finished file. I know this has been referenced by other users, but I had not had this problem in a while,...

My initial tests have some interesting results. ffMpeg 2-pass encoding worked, but the second pass appears to NOT be using both cores. 1st pass worked at about 80 fps, second pass, only 30 fps, the fan on my MacBook didn't even come on. The processor clearly isn't being pushed, possibly as result of...

rhester, it sounds like you probably have the most knowledge of svn, so you should probably check it in.

My tests are looking ok so far, I did a couple small files on the intel system. Working on a full movie now, I'll post the results when its finished.

OK. Got the build working, everything's great so far. I'm going to do some encoding tests and I'll report back with my results. Thanks for the help with the build process, the instructions were easy to follow.

What's the easiest way for me to get the potential r71 source, patches and all, and compile on my Intel machine? I've seen the patches scattered throughout posts on this board, but do we have a set I can download and test out somewhere? Thanks. I agree that any code checked in should work on all sup...

I'd be happy to compile and test anything you need on my Intel Mac. You may just need to help me through the process a bit. :-) Let me know what I can do to help.

Wow, I disappear for a few days and you guys really push forward. Great work! I still haven't heard from Chris Long, but I'll send him a quick email reminder. When I get a response from him, I'll pass it on to you guys, since you really seem to have a better handle on the x264 encoding than I do. I'...

Intel work

Good news. I found Chris Long's email address in one of the forums and sent him a request for his changes. He said he was happy to send what he had worked on, and is going to try to get those changes to me later this week. Hopefully this will help solve some of the memory issues on the Intel systems.

That all sounds great. As I said before, I'm mostly a Cocoa programmer (actually mostly a Java programmer), and some of the lower level C stuff (threading, c pointers, etc.) are sometimes confusing to me, but I certainly want to help and keep moving forward. It would be nice to get some code, or at ...

Memory issues

Through further testing, I've found that the memory leak is present in my recent build. I encoded a movie, and the real memory shot to 450MB, and stayed high even after the encoding was finished. I'll try to track this down, I know rhester had some leads, but I'll admit I'm not too good with c point...

I've looked at your website and would like to try out your patches. Forgive my ignorance, but could you provide me with some quick instructions on how to apply these patches? I'm good with Cocoa, but not too great with things outside of XCode. :-) Thanks.

Dynaflash and I are trying to create a new, working version that includes x264 Baseline 3.0 support, as well as other requested changes, and I'd like to incorperate any other useful changes that people have made. Any patches you have created would be great. See the "New Version" thread for informati...

I've compiled (for my own testing) a new version for Intel Macs, and I manually worked around the Jam issues, but I'm too unfamiliar with Jam to fix the build script right now. Most of the issues revolved around compiling and linking to ffmpeg. This version does create x264 Baseline 3.0 files, and m...

Glad someone else has picked this up. I was interested in working on the code myself, but I'm not very good (yet) with the low level c stuff, where most of the focus seems to be (iPod h.264 support). I do have an Intel mac though, so if you'd like any testing done, I'd be happy to help out there. I'...
