Re: Ripping TV DVD Shows Only One Giant Title

I found out a few nights ago that my Rurouni Kenshin DVD collection is like this (except for 1 disc), all the episodes are encoded as 1 big title, and broken apart by chapters, with a few chapters in between each episode that were only a few seconds to a couple of minutes in length. They were either...

Ummmm.... Forgot a step. You didn't mention the part in SubRip under General Options to tick the option "Forced Subtitles Only". Otherwise, there is no point in doing your steps....

Handbrake uses x264 for it's H264 encoding.

Re: How did you change the High Profile Preset for the bette

When you make a movie for "other" devices, you have to be careful about things. Such as the resolution of the playback device and aspect ratio of it. What you create that looks good on the PC or TV may look like crap on something else. Also you have to take into consideration that other mo...

Re: How did you change the High Profile Preset for the bette

Wanting to know based smaller filesize? If so, first have to know I use Video Quality as CRF 20 using x264. As for the Advanced tab, I change the B-Frames to 6, enable Pyramidal B-Frames, and change Trellis to 0. This provided the max filesize savings while preserving speed and maintaining quality. ...

Hush your mouth. This is the BEST program ever. Great quality, fast, and FREE! Has it's faults, but the PROs by far outweighs and outshines the CONs.

Re: Decent settings for archiving

Why disable Detelecine?? NTSC movies almost invariably require it, else you'll likely end up deinterlacing the movie instead! I disabled Detelecine after reading an piece (can't find it now, it's been a while) that stated something to the effect that by leaving it on, could adversly affect movies t...

Re: Decent settings for archiving

The problem I have noticed with the WDTVLive is with movies encoded Same As Source. Due to the VRF, as the movie nears the end, the audio/video sync become more and more off. While watching 17 Again, by the end of the movie, the audio was off about 1/2 a second. Not too bad, but enough for someone ...

Re: Decent settings for archiving

I create my movies files as MKV. A 2 hour movie is usually 1 GB to 1.2 GB in size with very good Picture Quality. Most 1 hour TV show episodes are about 400-500 MB in size and most 30 minute TV shows are about 250-300 MB. What follows is what I use under normal circumstances. I start off with High P...

Re: Decent settings for archiving

I found something out quite interesting, I think anyways.... I decided to do an overnight experiment *again* to find a good balance between speed and filesize encoding my movies. See which functions actually gave a decent decrease in filesize, and which were just time-hogs and did nothing or very li...

Re: Decent settings for archiving

For a guy with as many x264 advanced tweaks as you, it's surprising to see you wasting bits so freely. Forget mod16 and take the cropping. I have read somewhere (either on this website's forums or guide) or somewhere else on the internet, that MPEG doesn't like it when you create a video that is no...

Re: CRF providing high bit rate

I used to use ABR 2-pass H.264 for my movies. Then when v0.9.4 came out and Handbrake's homepage had this big spill about Constant Quality (CRF). So I decided to do a test run of it. So I took a movie that was previously done in ABR (1500 kbps (all my movies were done in this w/ 2-pass)) and did it ...

Re: svn3154 breaks PS3 compatibility

You can do 5.1 w/ AAC in Handbrake (called 6 Channel Discrete). But I want to preserve the audio from my DVDs. That's why I don't use MP4 (AVC/AAC). For most my MKVs they are AVC/AC3 or if I want the audio commentaries, AVC/AC3/AC3 etc. And for some, I want to even preserve the DTS audio track. Can'...

Also curious, has anyone from Handbrake contacted txMuxer to alert them to their "bug"? I know that it isn't your obligation to do so, but just to be nice and give them a heads-up. Thanks!

Re: svn3154 breaks PS3 compatibility

mkelley... That is not the issue here. If you read the entire thread of comments, you would have seen that this is because of the way txMuxer determines the fps of the video stream (not the audio stream). And Handbrake in their newest SVN added a legit header to the container pertaining to the video...

Re: svn3154 breaks PS3 compatibility

I am one of the people on here that was affected by the fps problem in txMuxer from MKV's encoded by Handbrake 3154. I enjoy watching my movies from a server to my 65" TV via my PS3 via a program called PS3MediaServer. And I prefer to watch my movies using txMuxer because it does not alter the ...

Re: Utility to extract only CC text and create SRT?

Sorry, I just assumed that Subrip would work because everytime I load a movie in it, it tells me it detected Closed Captions. Sorry. That CCextractor program looks promising though.
