Decomb Settings

Please detail your question or problem in as much detail as possible: I've always use decomb on the Filters options tab when encoding dvd's. I haven't used Handbrake in a while. I just recently installed the latest nightly and noticed an additional option for the Decomb filter. You used to be able ...

Re: Nightly builds for Windows?

Does anyone have a link to the last nightly that was produced? I didn't get a chance to download the last nightly that was posted. I only download it once every week or two. I'd like to have the most recent for obvious reasons. It might make sense to post the most recent/last nightly somewhere perma...

Re: Nightly builds for Windows?

woah...that's kind of a big deal. I imagine that there are a LOT of Windows users that download this nightly version. Does this mean that development on the Win GUI has ceased/paused? As the cli is updated, can we throw that somewhere in the Handbrake directory to at least updated the main encoding ...

Can't adjust resolution above SD

Postby moneymatt4life » Sun Jan 11, 2015 1:44 pm should be 960x720 for 4:3, don't do something stupid like distorting 4:3 to 16:9... although i doubt you'll get any further help because of your source :P Thanks. Sorry about the other post...i wasn't thinking. I saw the thread was locked, so posted ...

Can't adjust resolution above SD

I am trying to encode a 1080p video to 720p, but Handbrake won't let me change the width higher than 642. Actually, the original file's resolution is a little funny @ 1416x1060...i assume due to cropping of the original encode. I tried the different anamorphic choices... If I choose "Strict" anamorp...

Download Link

I could be wrong, but I don't think that the download link for HandBrake-svn6280_x86_64-Win_GUI.exe (http://download.handbrake.fr/nightly/HandBrake-svn6280_x86_64-Win_GUI.exe) is working. The first time that I tried it, it downloaded, but it said it was corrupt when i tried to run the setup file. It...

Re: Handbrake Version 0.9.8 x86_64 not allowing file size

Uh oh. Somebody better lock this thread quickly. empboy, you brought up a hot topic (at least for some). Try Vidcoder, the developer decided to keep the target file size option. It uses the same encoding engine as Handbrake. It just has a different interface + target file-size. Although there are so...

Ipod Touch - Deinterlace? & Boost the Preset Settings?

I've never created files for portable devices before. I've only created files meant for a media server output to t.v./surround sound. However, now I need to encode an animated children's dvd (Leap Frog - Letter Factory) for the ipod touch. I believe it's 4th generation. I usually start out with high...

Detelecine is no longer High Profile default

I noticed that Detelecine - default option is longer chosen for the high profile preset, but is turned off. Wondering why this is. I've always just left detelecine and decomb options on for all my encodes (mostly sd dvds of t.v. shows) and everything has always been fine. I even remember someone say...

Re: What happened to the "Target Size" quality option?

match, I think the point here is that even though repeating myself over and over about the reasons the target files size option was dropped is tiresome, maintaining that option was *more* annoying. I'm sure VidCoder works fine if you use the option as it was intended to be used and aren't too fussy...

Re: What happened to the "Target Size" quality option?

Then when Vidcoder is mentioned (as it is Handbrake with file size option intact and working fine), someone comes back warning users of a couple flaws it has. (actually only 1 minor thing pointed out...Vidcoder works great, don't believe the propaganda). One flaw mentioned is that the users are dir...

Re: What happened to the "Target Size" quality option?

I was reading over this thread (as I believe target size is a useful option, albeit in only a few circumstances) and found it quite interesting. You have people saying they're sick of people saying this and sick of people saying that. Yet they continue to come back to the thread to read more and def...

THIS is a response that makes perfect sense. Thank you. I'd be willing to bet the last several pages of bickering would not have occurred were this simple fact stated earlier. Here is the simple fact that if stated earlier, the last several pages of bickering would not have occurred...one word...Vi...

Re: Encoding SD MKV - TV series ripped from DVD

Note that you can still use HandBrake 0.9.6 - if you rip your DVDs to ISO images or DVD folder structures, the buggy MPEG-2 decoder will not be used. If I'm thinking right, it would probably be much easier to rip to dvd folder structure for tv shows anyway. I haven't used makemkv a whole lot, but w...

Re: HandBrake WPF UI Beta

Hi. I just downloaded the latest nightly and ran across a few items: 1. First, I agree with one of the previous posts that said the font doesn't look as good. On my computer, the best way to describe it is that it looks kind of "thin". 2. I can't save changes to presets that I have. For instance, if...

Re: Won't finish scanning titles without error (UPDATED)

Embattle: Thanks for the tip. I actually already did something very similar. I used makemkv and then ran it through a program called StaxRip. It was a pretty decent program with lots of options. It created a very nice looking video with DTS and all. A bit too many options for my taste, but I was abl...

Re: Won't finish scanning titles without error

Flo: I don't believe the movie I have is 25p. I'm pretty sure the framerate is 29.97. Does it matter because the original framerate was 25p? So guys, I'm assuming there's no way to encode this movie with Handbrake. If it's o.k. to ask here...do you know of any software that could do this? I'd hate t...

Won't finish scanning titles without error (UPDATED)

I'm having an error when trying to scan my Doctor Who bluray movie. I've only encoded one other bluray before, but I had no problems with that one. I thought maybe it was the disc, however I've ripped it with AnyDvd and it finished fine with no errors. I also tried with MakeMkv and it also removed p...

It works fine. At least it has for me for hundreds of encodes over the past few years. Though don't bother bugging anyone here to get it back into the software. Aint gonna happen, period. Check out Vidcoder. It is basically Handbrake (the same quality output, uses same libraries, encoding engine, et...

Re: Looking for a new device for playback

If you have a fast enough computer, I would stick with your ps3 and use a program called, ps3mediaserver (http://code.google.com/p/ps3mediaserver/), to stream from you p.c. to your t.v. via the ps3. It supports just about any type of media file that you can throw at it. It can even stream, .iso file...

Re: TV Episodes: Best Encoding Practice

Is there a reason that you are using the Apple TV 2 preset? If you aren't looking for strict compatibility with a target device, I would use a different preset...or really, choose the high profile preset and then go from there to make an even better preset. I took a look at the Apple TV 2 preset and...
