Re: Little help compiling in Linux

I just started a thread yesterday that mentioned this problem. The libstdc++.la is an editable text file. At the bottom of that file is a reference to the directory that is causing the problem. You need to replace the directory that is specified to the correct directory. On my setup and chumanga's s...

Re: Problems compiling nightly in Linux for windows

After removing the --enable-hwd call I then had to use the fix from this thread to successfully compile a new hb.dll that could use FDK (this is the soul reason I am doing this). I was using the mingw-w64 to compile LibHB for Windows as recommended on the CompileOnWindows page: We use MinGW-W64 to ...

Re: Problems compiling nightly in Linux for windows

I had tried removing that call about a week ago and it failed. I tried again just now and it failed. However, after consulting the log file I think it might be related to the fix from this thread.

Problems compiling nightly in Linux for windows

Please detail your question or problem in as much detail as possible: Following the instructions at https://trac.handbrake.fr/wiki/CompileOnWindows I have successfully compiled the nightly handbrakecli.exe and the hb.dll in Ubuntu 14.04 to use on my main Windows system to add back in the FDK audio ...

Re: FDK AAC and the 0.10.5

Will the precompiled nightly build work with a user compiled hb.dll? I followed the Linux instructions and compiled the hb.dll with the fdk-aac switch. It finished and said it was successful but when I try to encode something using the current nightly build GUI (as of yesterday at least) with the re...

Re: Need help reducing noise in Looney Tunes DVD encodes

Sorry, didn't mean to alter the conversation on the thread. Basically, when it comes to mpeg2 to h.264 conversion I have never been that happy with the results of CRF with relation to file size. Anything above about 18-19-20 felt noticeable to me but the two pass approach seemed to offer a good bala...

Re: Need help reducing noise in Looney Tunes DVD encodes

I fought with inflated file sizes with the old "Scooby Doo, Where Are you" cartoon dvd series as it was fairly noisy. I didn't want to apply heavy denoising and all the light stuff was barely making a difference so I finally settled on using two pass encoding at a fixed bit rate. I know yo...

Any chance this might be looked at sooner (rather then later) with FDK AAC being removed?

Re: Between 7048 and 7063 audio passthru broke?

Everytime I install a new version of the nightly build I always delete the roaming profile directory for Handbrake. I don't mess with the configure defaults button in the Audio tab so I assume they are at the defaults. Anyway, I opened it up and the auto passthrough options have all the checkboxes c...

Re: Between 7048 and 7063 audio passthru broke?

I can confirm I had this same problem with the latest currently available build 7063 and previous build 7053 with the same bits in the log: "Auto Passthru: no codecs allowed" [18:48:44] libhb: scan thread found 1 valid title(s) [18:48:44] starting job [18:48:44] Auto Passthru: no codecs al...

Re: Weird Blocking/Distotion when encoding VC1 from BBC Blu-Ray

If you think that little bit of distortion is bad, you should have tried it before January 2014 or so. It was pretty nasty with unwatchable digital tiling and corruption. Since that update most of the corruption I have noticed with interlaced vc1 has been like the example screenshot you provided, mo...

Any updates on when interlaced vc1 might be supported?

It's still not working in the latest nightly.

Re: HandBrake 0.9.6 Discussion Thead

I was disappointed when target file size was yanked from the betas way back when. However , I quickly found that the average bitrate setting worked just as well, for my use anyway, and I could better configure consistent video rate size with multiple audio streams. (Personally, I've found that CQ wo...

Re: Error loading Mythtv Transcoded file

With the build I downloaded on Friday (Windows Gui 4331 and CLI 4338) I was experiencing the same type of problems opening up mpeg2 HD files generated from firewire transfers from my cable box. It said it didn't recognize the format or it was a bad file. I just downloaded the latest build (svn4341) ...

Re: [Implemented] Prevent Windows from going into Sleep/Susp

fwiw, it's trivial to implement. My guess is that since the CLI is launched with below normal priority by default, it's causing windows to think it's not critical so it can sleep. Implemented: http://trac.handbrake.fr/changeset/3431 Before posting I tried testing Handbrake with normal priority but ...

Re: Prevent Windows from going into Sleep/Suspense

I just finally upgraded to Windows 7 and ran into this sleep problem. With Windows XP I never had any trouble with the box going to sleep until the encode was completed, but I ran into the problem immediately with Windows 7. After googling the problem, I've learned it's a fairly common one with othe...

Re: AC3->MP3 results in distortion/crackling/popping

I was looking into this problem further and wanted to mention in case others search for this problem, that the formal term for the distortion we are discussing in this thread is caused by the audio "clipping". I loaded an extracted mp3 that exhibited the problem into the Audacity audio edi...

Re: AC3->MP3 results in distortion/crackling/popping

I had this problem crop up with Handbrake .9.4. I'm surprised I couldn't find anymore information about it. The situation was exactly like Voochi indicated where when there was a loud sound (in this case an extended explosion) there was extreme popping and crackling on the mp3 track. This was not pr...
