Re: Perfect settings for owners of Sony SMP-N*** Streamers

What container are you using in output settings MP4 or MKV?
The default M4V that comes with the AppleTV 2 preset works OK on the Sony Bluray so, presumably, also on the Sony Media players.

Probably not the best for flexibility of use over many devices though.

Regarding removal of 8x8dct & b-pyramid for PSP?

My Sony PSP works fine with the default Advanced settings (as used on all the 0.9.5 version A4 device presets) if 8x8 Transform and Pyramidal B-Frames are turned off, as they are not compatible. Are the changes: 8x8dct=0 and b-pyramid=0 fine if made in isolation? Or, would there be recommended chang...

Re: Using Strict for a DVD source and A4 devices

Thanks for that Rodeo . For compatibility with your Blu-ray player, you'll probably want to enable "Same as source, Constant framerate" The iPhone4 preset (unaltered) has been compatible (29.97 & Peak Framerate) and looks very good on the TV. :) It *might* also be necessary to disable ...

Using Strict for a DVD source and A4 devices

I only ever use DVD sources (never HD) and I am encoding for an iPod Touch 4th Gen. (and Sony Bluray/media player). The posts quoted below seem to indicate: 1) That "Loose" is the default (for A4 device presets) as it is required for downscaling of full HD. 2) If requiring a "best set...

Re: Perfect settings for owners of Sony SMP-N*** Streamers

Avatar at 1GB was not what I wanted for quality. Doing TLOTR trilogy at RF19 and they come out great. Glad you are happy with the results. I use a Sony Bluray player, which I presume will be very similar to the Sony SNP Streamers. I don't need glasses, but my eyesight is not ultra sharp (as over 50...

Re: Perfect settings for owners of Sony SMP-N*** Streamers

Quality: I Use target Size: 1024(1GB) I don't think that would be the best choice because you are going to allow 1GB per encode regardless of whether it is a short movie or The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King at over three hours. The quality will vary from movie to movie. Using a Constant...

No downside to unchecking, but there's no reason to if all your playback devices support it.
Thanks very much for the info Rodeo.

Any downside to unchecking "Large file size" for <4GB encode

The SupportFAQ says:- By Default, HandBrake outputs MP4 files with 32bit headers. This means that if the file grows above 4GB, it will be rendered useless. Enabling "Large file size" will force HandBrake to use 64bit headers, however some devices do not support this. As support improves, t...

Re: PSP Go

I have got the PSP 2000 "Slim & Lite" but I think the same settings should work for the PSP Go, it's worth a try. * Select the source * Select the destination file * Select “Apple Universal” or “iPhone & iPod Touch” from the Presets : This sets most of the settings required for the...

Re: PSP: Need Help With Settings

by tedtaylor Here's what I did (I'm using the HandBrake GUI v0.9.4 on Ubuntu x64) * Select the source * Select Apple-Universal preset : This sets most of the settings required for the PSP. * Scale the video to 480 x 272 (max dimensions) : Click on the "Picture Settings" toolbar button. Ch...
