Re: Encoding for A4 devices (iPad, iPhone 4, tv 2)
Thanks Rodeo, although I have a couple questions four posts up re: screen resolution, unless of course your latest post was in reply to them? If so, can you expand further please?
Kind regards

Re: Encoding for A4 devices (iPad, iPhone 4, tv 2)
I would just like to ask the experts here a question about the new iPhone 5 and iPad 2 having dual core processors. What impact would this have with regards to HB encoded content? Could the devices handle 1080 as opposed to 720? Or is it just that the devices will be a whole lot faster at doing ever...

Re: Encoding for A4 devices (iPad, iPhone 4, tv 2)
which is why the AppleTV preset defaults to 960 width instead of 1280. Why does the ATV preset default to 960 instead of 1280, when 1280 x 720 @ 24,25&30fps works just fine on my ATV2 and iPhone 4 devices? Also, is there any noticeable difference in pic quality from 1280 x 720 to 960 x 576? Tha...

Re: Encoding for A4 devices (iPad, iPhone 4, tv 2)
The peak framerate checkbox only appears when you select a framerate other than "same as source", which the iPad or AppleTV2 preset should do. I'd check the version number in the About menu option to see which version you're actually running. Thanks mduell, I choose the iPad preset, as in...

Re: Encoding for A4 devices (iPad, iPhone 4, tv 2)
Hi mduell,
Thanks for the reply,
That Peak Framerate check box isn't to be found, instead I have a check box that says 2-pass encoding, which is greyed out. Is it worth uninstalling & reinstalling HB?
Thanks for the other info, although confusing. I will do more research.

Re: Encoding for A4 devices (iPad, iPhone 4, tv 2)
Hi mduell, Thanks for your time in creating this post and being patient with us all! I would just like to ask, if most of what is out there is 23.976fps, 24fps and 25fps, what is the point of the ATV2 being capable of 30fps because you cant encode 30fps on a source file that is 23.976fps as an examp...

HB asking for MetaX location
Hi all, after HB finishes a project I get a window asking me where metaX is. What is that all about?

Re: AppleTV Custom Presets - 0.9.4
@dynaflash: any reason why you would turn off trellis? Just wondering. Perhaps you might also turn off analysis and turn on no-dct-decimate. This may seem strange, but analysis hardly increases quality in my testing (both SSIM and double-blind), yet it significantly hurts encoding speeds (+- 30%). ...

Re: AppleTV Custom Presets - 0.9.4
Hi Nightstrm, As mentioned, here is an update about how the encode went using the string that you provided. I did Star Trek again with the string you provided as an extra to what is already there in the advance settings. The outcome is a lot better, although the picture still stutters a little bit a...

Re: AppleTV Custom Presets - 0.9.4
For the record I am currently using a constant quality RF of 19.25 for sd dvd and an rf of 23 for hd sources with these advanced options: ref=3:mixed-refs=1:bframes=3:me=hex:subq=7:b-adapt=2:weightb=0:trellis=0:weightp=0 This is for me a balance of quality, file size and encoding speed. Given my mb...
