Re: Encode on any file on this one DVD stops at 99.9%
Makemkv appears to be working -- it's going through and making those MKV files and I really don't need to run them through Handbrake (no need for any compression per se -- I mostly just wanted to convert to MKV so I can play them on my media players. I really *hate* physical media <g>). So, thanks.

Re: Encode on any file on this one DVD stops at 99.9%
I'll see about a different ripper but I think it's correctly ripped (can't imagine, with a disc this old, that any other build would help though). I also tried the freeware/upgrade paidware [Removed Dubious Product Reference] Video Convertor and it handled the files with no problem (although the fre...

Encode on any file on this one DVD stops at 99.9%
Guys, I've been using Handbrake for over a decade now, and am pretty familiar with it. I've encoded 100's of discs with no issues at all. So, using the very latest version (checked) I have a DVD set that is itself around 10 years old that I ripped to my hard drive with no issues and plays fine from ...

Re: Just two (hopefully little) things
Yeah, I think I know why passing through the TrueHD track hasn't been implemented by now. Pretty obviously it's not a trivial matter (or it would have been done already) and I've now come across an instance where I just can't do it, even with my usual mixture of tools that have worked in the past (o...

Re: (In)Consistent system crash on Win 7
Well, I do understand what you are saying... but it's interesting now that I've done four encodes since switching versions and had no crashes (when I couldn't even get through ONE encode in a month prior to this, despite trying dozens of times). Same files, same everything... except different Handbr...

Re: (In)Consistent system crash on Win 7
Thanks, John -- I'll give memtest86 a try. My hardware ignorance knows no bounds. I was under the assumption that with very few exceptions (Adobe Premiere 64big being one of them) that none of the applications I have can use more than a 4gb chunk of memory they were spawned in. While I have 12GB I w...

(In)Consistent system crash on Win 7
Handbrake has been bringing my entire system down repeatedly over the last month or so since I've been using the builds allowing blu-ray detection. I've been upgrading to the latest but they don't seem to solve this problem. Things I know (and don't know): 1) It's Handbrake. Without Handbrake runnin...

Re: DTS 7.1 tracks not showing?
I did just that when I came home after tennis -- used an old Handbraked file and reripped my blu-ray disc and just added the True-HD to the result and it looks perfect and seems to play in True-HD on my player. So it's not a bad process (although it would be really nice if this could be incorporated...

Re: DTS 7.1 tracks not showing?
Ah -- okay then (I guess using something like TSMuxer to rip the track and remuxing with something like MakeMKV is the only way to get True-HD on a Handbraked file, then).

Re: DTS 7.1 tracks not showing?
Thanks -- that's kind of what I was thinking. If you don't mind, one more quick question along the same lines -- does the AC3 passthrough passthrough True-HD in the same manner as the DTS-HD passthrough passes the full track? I'm not sure I've ever tried this (I have very few blu-rays with True-HD, ...

Re: DTS 7.1 tracks not showing?
Well, I haven't answered my own question, but I do note that when I use the nightly (with the DTS-MA passthrough) that even though it only shows 5.1 channels as a track selection, after the file is Handbrakes the MA track has 7.1 channels (the normal DTS passthrough track still only has the 5.1 chan...

DTS 7.1 tracks not showing?
Using the latest nightly build I noticed that when I select DTS on a disc I know has 7.1 DTS tracks it only shows the tracks as 5.1. I actually never paid any attention to this before (even though I have a 7.1 audio system) because my device (WDTV Live) can't play 7.1 but I'm just wondering now if t...

Re: Still can't get latest Handbrake to work
Okay, erasing all traces of Handbrake and reinstalling worked (even though when I put any of the nightlies on it told me it was uninstalling Handbrake, I guess it still didn't remove the prefs). I'm running right now and if you don't hear again from me all is well (so don't bother looking at it for ...

Still can't get latest Handbrake to work
Since I've started with the latest Window 64bit (on Win 7 64bit) nightly builds about two weeks ago I've yet to get any of them to run. I get the same errors regardless of the build. First, when loading it in, I get this: An Unknown Error has occured. System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exc...

Nightly build error

No audio and bad stutter with Yellow Submarine Blu
Folks, I just got the blu-ray of Yellow Submarine and my encode with the latest release (no nightly) failed pretty miserably. I get no audio although I do passthrough the DTS (normal) track as I always do. While it shows in Media Info as having a DTS track, and as well in both VLC and my WD player, ...

Re: WD TV, MKV files, and animation
Well, I *was* remuxing off an NAS (which isn't the fastest across the network, but it's where all my movies are).
But I do assume you guys are at least considering putting HB muxer back the way it was (unimproving it, as it were :>).

Re: WD TV, MKV files, and animation
Oops. cross posted. I see Rodeo is already on this thread and knows. So, just to confirm, HB is broken insofar as playback with WD players are concerned (at least when encoding MKV files from blu-ray). Remuxing with mkvmerge (and I suspect almost any version -- I'm still using a two year old one) fi...

Okay, remuxing did work, which tells me the HB muxer is broken. I'll visit that thread and let Rodeo know.

Re: WD TV, MKV files, and animation
This won't be much help, but I wanted to echo that I've also had some issues with HB and one of my WD players, in terms of blu-ray encodes "freezing up". This never happened with previous HB versions so I'm pretty sure it's something with the new HB. (Note: I've been using WD players and H...

You'll need to post a log to get help (see top of all forums).
In the meantime, I assume you *are* using the iPad preset, correct?

Re: Wiki edit access rights
Ah -- this is getting into areas that the uninformed (myself, again :>) probably don't want to venture (because I'm not sure I understand what you mean about "other than H.264" -- is that all Handbrake uses? Because Handbraking my DVDs/Blurays is all I really care about. In any case, I alr...

Re: Wiki edit access rights
Curiosity gets the better of me -- since I already own AnyDVD HD (and have for quite some time now) -- as Any is updated quite regularly in order to deal with new protection, etc. and there are notable disks that don't work until this happens (like Avatar) is using something like libdvdcss really an...
