Re: Burning in PGS/bitmapped subtitles on a Mac
Ok, Avatar subs work great using the latest nightly build. I did try the backup method, but the Avatar disc when backed up has multiple files and I wasn't able to get HB to combine them all. I went with creating a MKV (MakeMKV) and I ran that through HB and it worked great. The timing was accurate a...

Re: Burning in PGS/bitmapped subtitles on a Mac
I have 1.7.6. I ripped it using an earlier version and I had once instance where a couple of subs linger for a couple of seconds longer. If 1.7.7 is out now, I'll do a re-rip and use the nightly 935 build and report back.

Re: Burning in PGS/bitmapped subtitles on a Mac
BTW, what's the issue with Avatar. I have it, perhaps I can help...?Rodeo wrote:As far as we know, it works fine. You'll want to encode from a BDMV backup rather than an MKV file if possible (though MakeMKV's issue with Avatar is supposedly fixed - not tested since I don't have Avatar).

Re: Burning in PGS/bitmapped subtitles on a Mac
Ah! Gotcha, thanks.
What does the backup get you that creating a MKV wouldn't when doing subs?

Re: Burning in PGS/bitmapped subtitles on a Mac
Sorry for asking, but I'm not familiar with creating a backup. What app(s) is used for creating that?

Re: Burning in PGS/bitmapped subtitles on a Mac
Yeah I'd mentioned that was already the case, but everything that I could find pointed to some glitches that had yet to be fixed. Besides, not everyone is brave enough to venture outside of using stable/last released builds. I have yet to use the nightly build that can burn-in bitmapped subs. Does i...

Burning in PGS/bitmapped subtitles on a Mac
I've searched in the forum, but haven't had much luck with finding a "how to" guide on taking subs from a blu-ray rip and burning them into a finished encode using Handbrake. I was able to find that the devs are working on this for HB, but there are still bugs being squashed. I currently h...

Re: Bluray Ripping & Encoding (A Total Mac Solution)
Adult films? Oh my! I don't really need the highest quality sound so I don't follow everything shown by the OP, but for almost all of my rips I use two tools: MakeMKV and Handbrake (usually just MakeMKV). Where it gets sticky is when there are subtitles to deal with. I'm hoping that sometime ...

Re: Bluray Ripping & Encoding (A Total Mac Solution)
I'm following this tutorial, and everything is working great, except that I can't get the forced subtitles (foreign audio) to work. I'm ripping The Godfather (Blu-Ray), and in MakeMKV see two English Tracks. They seem identical. I've made an MKV with both of them checked, with one of them checked, ...

Getting M2TS files to play well with the other kids?
I'm trying to test out how to best take advantage of the quality without driving my MPC (running Plex) into the ground. Some play ok, but others start dropping frames like crazy making them unwatchable. I figured I could transcode/convert them to an MKV with HB, but then the issue is quality and fil...

Ok. Cool, thanks.
I didn't know if HB used any files elsewhere on the HDD that might have been updated by the new install.

Re: Inglourious Basterds Subtitle Problem
I had the same issue and as I noticed (as mentioned earlier) that there is a bug for this, I just turned off subtitles and the film ripped perfectly as seen in theaters--with English subs for German/French speeches only. Hope this helps.

Is it possible? If not, how can I revert to 0.9.3?
