Re: Chapters every n minutes
In AppleTV you can only fast-forward in case you don't have chapters.

Re: Chapters every n minutes
@TedJ: Yes I know what the purpose of that checkbox is.
@musicvid: Yes I know that there are applications around that can add markers after encoding (e.g. Subler)
But it would be nice, if this could already be done during encoding.

Chapters every n minutes
In the chapters section, near the "Create chapter markers"-checkbox.
Could you add a pull-down with "---/every 2 minutes / every 5 minutes / every 10 minutes /..."
Thanks

Re: Video Tab - Constant Quality slider
OK, accepted. But then please update the help in the https://trac.handbrake.fr/wiki/ConstantQuality with everything you just said here. But one final question. In the MP3 codec LAME you have quality settings V0 - V9. I once asked them, if it would help to tell the codec what kind of music you put in...

Re: Video Tab - Constant Quality slider
1. "Anyway, without reading the documentation, the RF slider does not tell you that 0 produces big files and 51 small files. At least this should be clear in the application." 2. I don't read too much into a suggestion. You provide presets with RF setting of 20 or 22. What else is a preset...

Re: Video Tab - Constant Quality slider
Well this might be true, but in Handbrake's own documentation ( https://trac.handbrake.fr/wiki/ConstantQuality ) a suggestion is given, what RF value is a good starting point (SD: 20 +/- 1, HD 22: +/- 1) and what values are usually useless (<19). Why not make these recommendations clear in the appli...

Video Tab - Constant Quality slider
In the encoder options of the video tab, there is a preset slider. If you change the slider, on the right you get the information "ultrafast, super fast, ..., very slow, placebo" I suggest, that you do similar in the constant quality slider, e.g. "RF 51-40: Really Bad, .. RF26-24: Wor...

Re: Where is the advanced control panel in nighty?
I see two possibilities: Option 1: If "Show Advanced Encoder Options Tab" is not selected in the Advanced Preferences, then don't show the "Use Advanced Options Panel"-checkbox in the Video Tab. Option 2: Show the Advanced tab if you either select the "Show Advanced Encoder ...

Re: AC3 5.1 pass through ends in AC3 2.0
Thank now it works.
I skipped the first 2096 blocks with dd and now the result is ok (except that i miss another key frame).
Funny, that all programs ignore the stereo at the beginning while reporting the file type.

AC3 5.1 pass through ends in AC3 2.0
Hi, again a transport stream problem. Handbrake identifies the following file as file with two audio tracks. https://www.dropbox.com/s/vh4gkt75dcklhyp/8.02-10000bk.ts Its the first 10000 blocks of an original file extracted with dd if=.. of=.. count=10000 Track 0: MPEG (2.0ch) Track 1: AC3 (5.1ch) I...

Re: Problems with Transport Stream
I did a quick test with 6227svn The sample of the first 25MB of the original transport stream (Sample-ts-25mb.ts), created with unix command dd, now works great and produces no errors. The sample of the first 15s of the edited transport stream (Sample-ts-15s.ts), edited with Avidemux still don't wor...

Re: AppleTV Preset 30fps
Surely it will play, but 30fps from a 50fps which was actually a 25fps with each frame doubled results in a 30fps with every 5th frame doubled.
I would prefer a 25fps with nothing doubled.

Re: AppleTV Preset 30fps
Unfortunately 30fps peak frame rate makes out of 720p/50 a 720p/30 and not 720p/25.
Maybe it would be better try frame rate / 2, frame rate /3, frame rate / 4 ... until it falls below the peak frame rate.

AppleTV Preset 30fps
Hi, why is in the preset of AppleTV 1/2/3 the initial frame rate set to 30fps and not to auto? I usually have 25fps or 50fps and I always have to change it. Another question regarding frame rate: In Germany we have 720p/50 for the public-sector broadcaster. But if fact most of the content is 25fps w...

Re: Problems with Transport Stream
FYI, you don't need to use avidemux to cut a TS file. You can hack a TS file pretty much anwhere. There are no global headers to worry about, so any tool such as dd on linux/osx that can cut a segment out of a file will work. OK , here are the first untouched 25MB from the original file, copied by ...

Re: Problems with Transport Stream
Hi guys, thank a lot for the time you spend to check this issue. I can assure you, that the problem is exactly the same for the original 12GB file, which has not been touched by Avidemux. I could produce the problem anywhere in the timeline of the original file in the 15s previews of Handbrake. I wa...

Re: Problems with Transport Stream
1. I'm using OS X, so Videoredo is no option. 2. I have already a workflow TS -->Avidemux--> MKV -->Handbrake--> M4V that works. 3. The purpose of this post is to provide an example file that does not work with Handbrake. Since other software (e.g. VLC) are able to play the file without problem, the...

Problems with Transport Stream
Hi, since some weeks, I have problems with Transport Streams that I have recorded with my Kathrein SAT receiver. Re: avformat vs mp4v2
The "file" command of unix says that the mp4v2/mp42 is an "MPEG v4 system, version 2" file, and the avformat/isom an "MPEG v4 system, version 1" file.
Is there a reason to go back to an older standard?

avformat vs mp4v2
Hi,
under which circumstances should I use avformat or mp4v2 format?
Are there devices which only support either the one or the other?
I see avformat is default.
Is this the same as saving in Subler either as M4V or MP4?
Thanks
