Re: 0.9.5 low volume, and subpar video quality
Alright, so even after making a few different renditions all turned at the same under the Universal preset, the appletv2, normal and high-profile settings not adjusting anything. same audio/video quality, and all around ~900MB

Re: 0.9.5 low volume, and subpar video quality
Apple Universal is only necessary to support degenerate old Apple devices (iPhone 3G, iPod non-touch, tv1, etc). Any Mac, tv2, iPad, and iPhone 4 support more advanced features so you should be using the tv2 preset for all of them. TSN is low framerate (24fps) and low resolution (since it's 2.4:...

Re: 0.9.5 low volume, and subpar video quality
Well other 2 hour films ranged from 1.4-2gb easily and didnt have terrible video quality under the Universal preset; however TSN came out to 900MB so I'm wondering if there is something to do with the actual data on the disc when being converted? I have a wide variety of Apple Devices; macbooks, app...

0.9.5 low volume, and subpar video quality
Tried a few newer movies encoding with the Universal preset with not adjustments to the settings. The overall volume seems to be very very soft as it was in the previous release. Even adjusting the settings suggested before dont give it any better of a sound compared to the DVD direct rip. The video...

Re: Toy Story 3 - Problems anyone?
No problems here with a store bought copy I wanted to put on my iPad. I just came back from buying Toy Story 3 DVD and tried to encode it to use on my iPod. HB scanned the disc just fine but still a bit slower than usual. When I went to watch the encoded movie it played random scenes. I believe the ...

Re: Near DVD quality, decent file size... possible?
8GB for a Handbrake video or what? I have been using the Universal Preset a-is and get great DVD like quality on all encodes. and theyre all under 2GB generally except for 2 1/2 hour + films The video quality for me isnt the problem, its usually the Audio thats alittle softer than the DVD itself. ot...

Re: Audio levels varying wildly
No OP I understand exactly. I have been experiencing similar issues. I use the default settings on the Apple Universal settings and get low-quality audio during dialogue but ambient noises (crashes, thuds, etc random ambient background noises) turn up fine its just alot of the times its the dialogue...

Re: Subtitles in films
from what i understand theyre not properly working in 0.9.4 but the nightly builds have them working (if i understood properly form the other posts). I've been running into this same issue recently with films like 2012, Angels & Demons, etc. I think my work around was to open the subtitles tab a...

Re: Volume issues with playback
i have had this similar issue with Audio quality. most everything else is fine, video quality, etc. some movies, it depends. some sound great and no tweaking needed. but to be honest adjusting the DRC level isnt going to have much affect on the audio quality; to me its like pressing the boost button...

Simply; open the dvd in DVD app, play the movie and check Go > Title > and take note of that in Handbrake.

Re: Poor audio mix-down
i went from DRC 0.0 to 3.75 and noticed a more of a louder increase.
when i first did encoding, i was told to leave the DRC to 0 to retain the audio form the source, but of course that hasnt been the best case scenario.
(thanks)

Re: Poor audio mix-down
Yeah i'd like to know myself. for example, i ripped the Hangover, the DVD plays fine and perfectly audible in DVD Player.app connected to my HDTV. when playing encoded Hangover versions using the Universal preset, with 320Kbps audio bitrate straight from the DVD source it sounds like it was mixed to...

Re: (0.9.4) Bruno encoding issues...
Thank you both. Well yes, an old MTR. I can't find the latest MTR so its last resort to use 2.66 and apparently its really ridiculous effort to get the latest MTR, i dont mind a small donation for a quality product if I could find it lol. The DVD Rip from MTR plays back fine, in order. all audio and...

Software: Handbrake 0.9.4 64bit OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.2 iTunes 9.0.2 MTR 2.66 I ripped the DVD Bruno successfully with MTR and played back flawlessly. Once i put it into Handbrake it recognizes two titles, and trying them both comes with the same results. It freezes on certain frames around 39 min ...

Re: Whats difference between Apple Universal and Apple TV preset
More tests done. Using Apple Universal converting avi's have played on my PS3 ok. I've also been told that using Apple TV preset and unticking Large File, will allow it to play on PS3, and iPhone, and AppleTV, just will give better quality results, although not sure on the file size difference betw...

Re: (0.9.4) audio/video geeks; best setting outputs
Not sure when my previous post will be/was submitted/approved. But I had a couple of follow ups regarding the reason why it wasnt working. At first i thought it was the fact i didnt select large file size. as no matter how many times i tried to encode it, it would not play in any media device (iTune...

(0.9.4) audio/video geeks; best setting outputs
I''ve ripped all my DVDs using MacTheRipper and use Handbrake (latest) to encode them for iTunes to distribute to various macs, iPods and potentially an appletv. My settings: I use the Normal preset, m4v, audio codec is: source- english (ac3) (5.1ch). AAC (coreaudio). mixdown- DPLII. 48Khz samplerat...
