Re: [Not A Bug] Handbrake only uses 60% of Phenom II X3 CPU

60-70% for all CPUs with ffmpeg is very on-par with x264.

Re: Encoding hangs

Maybe this is relevant to your problem. My solution would be to use HandBrake on another platform. The logs do not report anything untoward however there is definitely a problem. Perhaps instead of using Linux one could test it out in Windows or OSX to see if the encoding problem is reproducible wit...

Unsure of Syncing Issues

I'm not too sure if it is the audio or video which is exhibiting syncing issues, but I'm leaning towards the audio. The log file is quite extensive, over 6000 lines long. I hope that posting such a lengthly log isn't a problem, although I did have to cut it down to fit within 100000 characters. Not ...

Re: Odd Chapter Times

Thanks for the helpful and informative information! I was thinking it might be about a "feature" of retail DVDs. I shouldn't have to worry about these security measures introduced when the DVD structure was authored since they're stripped on rip. Although remnants obviously remain they're ...

Re: Video Encoding Hangs - Certain Movies

Here's the encode run using dvdnav. It looks like dvdnav is used in-place of certain dvdread functions, and dvdread is then used for the rest. Handbrake Version: rev2965 (2009113099) [13:34:31] hb_scan: path=/home/thomasp/Video/Processing/Encode/Alien (1979).iso, title_index=1 [13:34:31] scan: tryin...

Re: Video Encoding Hangs - Certain Movies

You say yours has 21 chapters? I have a bit of a correction to make regarding the title referred to previous posts. The film I'm attempting to encode is the " Alien (Director's Cut) (2003) " (title 1, with 40 chapters, not counting the zero length chapter at the end) that came on the Quadr...

Odd Chapter Times

I'm having an odd problem come up when I initially scan a movie "Indochine (1992)". The chapter durations are all wrong, they show times ranging from 10 seconds to a bit over a minute, until chapter 29 which is 0 seconds and finally chapter 30 which is 2:25:49. Now, I've attempted to rip t...

Re: Video Encoding Hangs - Certain Movies

All right, here's the newest log from Alien. This time I'm using svn2965 (0.9.4), still I get the hang at the same percentage: 24.78%. Any thoughts as to why this is happening? Do I need to run the encode again with "2" Activity Log Verbosity Level? Handbrake Version: rev2965 (2009113099) ...

Video Encoding Hangs - Certain Movies

Hi. This is my first post to the Handbrake forum, though I've been a lurker for the past year or so. Great information on here and I've been following and highly anticipating the release of 0.9.4. I've been working on encoding many of my movies to h.264 and have run into a few problematic titles tha...
