Re: Handbrake crashing on start encoding
Could this just be a corrupt queue for some reason? I've got what I imagine is a larger-than-normal queue at 258 pending encodes, so I'd rather like not to lose it if at all possible.

Handbrake crashing on start encoding
This appeared suddenly while I was away at work. I've used Handbrake with multiple files and multiple sources over the last couple days to encode ~50 files using the AppleTV 2 preset with no errors. I was greeted with a crashed Handbrake today and it appears to be crashing on every file I throw at i...

Re: HandBrake 0.9.5 Discussion Thread
Thanks for pushing a major milestone. I remember thinking earlier in this week "hey, HandBrake didn't have a major release in 2010!" and here you are. Get out of my head Many thanks to all the developers and assistance provided by the community. Less of a thanks for giving me more of a rea...

Re: Issue with overheating/shutdown
Thanks for the tips but it's all things I've checked and in some cases double and triple checked. A BIOS update fixed the issue. I'm completely stumped as to why this fixed the issue. I'd taken zero steps when I set the machine up in Sept 2008 to throttle or otherwise control the CPU. I'd done 100s ...

Issue with overheating/shutdown
So I formatted my HTPC the other day, I hadn't done it since I bought it in September 2008. As a primary OS X user, had installed and uninstalled a lot of stuff on it until I got it running the way I wanted. Since the format, I'm getting frequent overheating problems. This box has converted hundreds...

Re: Consistent crashing on encode of .TS file
04:04:47] hb_ts_stream_decode - eof Oh my god - HandBrake actually reached the end of file! ;-) Har har  that'd be all well and fine but unless I missed something, Handbrake isn't that fast! Grabbing and running the snapshot now. I'll edit this post once I've got some results. Thanks. EDIT: N...

Consistent crashing on encode of .TS file
Alright, so I'm getting a consistent crash when I try to convert my copy of Blue Planet captured into a .TS stream. The log is here but I'll save you the time, the offending line seems to be this: 04:04:47] hb_ts_stream_decode - eof There is a thread discussing a similar problem here however he's go...

Re: No 64bit VLC. What now smart guys?
All of you who rushed to Handbrake's defense make very valid points. However I think there's one things they can and should do: Put an asterisk beside the 64-bit version letting people know how and where to find the beta or old versions of 64-bit VLC that they'll need to make it work. That would av...

Re: encoding for 1024x768 16:9 plasma TV
I'm not entirely certain where you learned about display resolutions, but I suggest a refresher course . I wouldn't exactly call XGA HD-ready and not to mention you've got rectangular pixels at that resolution on a widescreen set. Your set is not, by any means, a typical HDTV. Calling it HD is a str...

Re: Slow Motion Video (On Purpose)
I understand what you're looking for here, but I don't think that's anywhere near the goal of the developers or the project. If it happens to work accidentally, great. However I wouldn't expect outright support for this. Most people would see this as a bad encode and not a desired behavior.

Listen TedJ, you clearly aren't bending to the will of the non-existent consumer here.

Re: A Case for Folder Batch Conversion
The developers have begun rolling basic batch conversion into HandBrake in new code submissions, evident from changeset 2981.

Well you seem to have figured out the problem: old presets crash the upgraded software. What's your support need here?dansmith wrote:Here's the crash report. Perhaps the release notes should have a prominent notice explaining that 0.9.4 is not backwards-compatible with older presets?

Re: encoding for 1024x768 16:9 plasma TV
If the television plays files directly off a USB device, you're going to need to know what your television can play. That's an awfully strange resolution for a television these days so I'll work under the (possibly incorrect) assumption your set is old. You'll likely want to find a copy of HandBrake...

Re: Is it possible to make a dual HD/SD file for iTunes?
Just a note, Heymbit's encode settings are suspect at best. Setting a bitrate is a silly way to encode, especially since 0.9.4 came out. The rest of his advice seems to check out, however.

Same issue, I posted this on the mtr forum, they think I have a bad DVD drive, I am going to try and swap it out at some point with another see if that solves the situation. So you're not going to try the easy solution I (and others) have proposed when this issue pops up, and instead swap out your ...

Anyone know if this is would be fixed in an update anytime soon? I'm going to have to go back to 0.9.3 because I can't have the first 2 seconds of the movie scaring the hell out of whomever's watching it. Then off you go back to 0.9.3.
