Re: Handbrake inside VirtualBox Performance?
It is these sources that led me to believe Intel Kaby Lake is offering improved encoding performance, with the assumption "without a reduction in quality": The major feature change in the Kaby Lake-U/Y media engine is the availability of full hardware acceleration for encode and decode of ...

Handbrake inside VirtualBox Performance?
Are there significant encoding performance issues running Handbrake in VirtualBox?
I want to make sure Handbrake has access to all the hardware performance/quality functionality available (especially Intel's Kaby Lake HEVC encoding optimizations).
Thank you.

Re: VP9 When?
You're right. I tried VP9 and it was going to take over 24 hours to encode a movie.
Thanks for the explanations.

Re: VP9 When?
Curious why it is taking so long to complete when Google, YouTube, and now Netflix are practically endorsing the encoder? It's open source, everyone is using it, so why so far behind?

VP9 When?
After reading Netflix's (and Google, YouTube) assessment of VP9 codec, I really want to start encoding in VP9 too.
When will it be ready?

I had a similar problem, and noticed huge jumps in my CPU utilization when it happened.

Thanks. I'll choose "strict" because I don't pay attention to what the content type is

Anamorphic for best quality (strict vs loose vs none)
What is the best anamorphic setting for the best quality when played back to a modern widescreen 60" TV? I read the AnamorphicGuide , but became confused between strict vs. loose. I don't understand the divide by 16 cleanly , nor do I know why I should care. I'm guessing strict is better qualit...

What does film tune do?
I was reading the wiki , and the definition sounds confusing: Film=Real life footage, films etc may benifit. (Not Cartoons or Anime). Typically won't do any harm to if left on for most content. First, film isn't real life. Then it says "films may benefit". Benefit how? There are some old m...

Intel QuickSync and Processor Quality?
The wiki says: "Intel Haswell or newer CPU's are recommended as these offer the best results in terms of Quality and Filesize."
Is there a quality difference between different versions of Intel's Haswell processors?
Or different versions of the drivers?

Re: My output file is larger than the source?
The source is actually from a MKV file, ripped from a DVD: DVD -> MakeMKV -> Handbrake I was using grain because the source is grainy; thinking that grainy video makes it difficult to compress. The picture is also black & white. ...I'm now reading through some similar threads regarding B&W t...

My output file is larger than the source?
For the source I have an uncompressed video file (via MakeMKV), that I'm encoding/compressing using Handbrake. My expectation is the Handbrake destination file will be compressed, and smaller...by a lot. The problem is the Handbrake destination file is larger than the source. Is this normal? What is...

Move file when complete
This is what I want to do: Move completed movie file to another location. I'm using the UI. Windows 7 x64. I presume I use the Send File To (Menu\Tools\Options\General\When Done\Send File to) feature. How can I use the feature "Send File To" to call a Windows batch file and copy the comple...

Re: Hardware Bottleneck Questions
With ATI 5700 series (ATI Stream) and Intel IGP HD, is there going to be any GPGPU acceleration for x264 encoding?
I've been trying to decide between the i5 660 w/ ATI 5770 or i5 661 w/ Intel IGP.

Disable Auto-Populate Subtitles
Is there a way to disable the auto-population or auto-add of subtitles? When I add a "Title" from Handbrake, Handbrake automatically adds Subtitles. This is very annoying because it also automatically checks "burned in" and the subtitles appear in my ripped output. I've searched ...

Re: Necessary feedback on the forums (Got a gripe? Keep it here)
Is there support for AVI/Xdiv?
The reason why is because I want to copy my DVD's to my computer, and watch them on my Windows Media Extender.
If Handbrake doesn't support this, can someone provide some recommendations?
Thanks,
Jake
