Re: AppleScript Help Needed

Try pointing HandBrakeCLI directly at the actual recording file (.mpg, .mp4, etc.) that lives inside the .eyetv package. If that doesn't work, export the recording from EyeTV as 'MPEG Program Stream' (this should just dump out the raw recording immediately rather than take time doing any transcoding...

Re: AppleScript Help Needed

EYETV files, HandBrake & script all in same folder. But that's not the folder that AppleScript itself runs from, and therefore calls 'do shell script' from. As a result, you'll have to either add your working folder to PATH as Rodeo suggests, or pass the full POSIX '/path/to/HandBrakeCLI' to 'd...

Re: AppleScript Help Needed

Does "HandBrakeCLI -i '60 Minutes.eyetv' -o '60 Minutes.mp4' --preset='AppleTV'" work if you run it directly from the command line?

What exactly are the error messages you're seeing from (a) HandBrakeCLI and (b) AppleScript?

Re: AppleTV Substitute

My current workflow is EyeTV->HB->ATV1 (40GB). We generally 'tape' more than we consume, so over the past few years we've accumulated some 900 hours backlog. (That's okay -- that much disk storage is more aesthetically pleasing to look at than the equivalent piles of physical media!) And the 40GB AT...

Re: Can i change the Thumbnail of a movie in Itunes?

You can edit multiple items at once in iTunes. You can change the artwork for all the episodes in one stroke :) (assuming you want them all to have the same picture.) Some TV series have the same title card for every episode, so doing a "Get Info" on multiple tracks at once, as you sugges...

Re: Help with automating sound sync correction?

Thanks for the suggestion. mkvmerge does indeed do exactly what I want but, as its name implies, appears only to output to mkv when the stated objective is to retain the mp4 container for Apple TV. From comments elsewhere in these forums I understood Subler fell into the category 'decent muxing tool...

Help with automating sound sync correction?

I have a DVD (BBC comedy series from the 1990s called The High Life) that was poorly mastered with the sound half a second out of sync with the video. I'm on a Mac, and target playback device is Apple TV. Post-HandBrake (CLI, latest snapshot, default ATV preset), I can manually fix each mp4 with Qui...

Re: AppleTV Custom Presets - 0.9.4

In addition to adding the 'weightp=0' and vbv x264 settings discussed above, should CLI users on OS X also now be changing their -E options from faac to ca_aac for best ATV results, given what's just been confirmed in this thread?

Will this new default also be reflected in the CLI presets under OS X, or will we have to manually opt for '-E ca_aac' ?

Re: album covers not showing in Apple TV UI

I had this problem too. For me it was something really simple. Basically my ATV was trying to sync before I could do a command I and put the cover art, name, date, etc that I wanted to put in. So make sure your ATV doesn't sync until you have done everything in itunes that you were planning to do. ...

Re: Automate Avi to MP4/M4V

Your AppleScript looks okay to me, and the fact that your first file processes correctly makes me wonder if the delay in copying across the network is causing a folder action or AppleScript timeout on the subsequent files. To check, try repackaging your script as a droplet, and drag'n'drop your file...

Re: How to setup for best audio only?

iTunes can extract audio directly from the .mp4 file, so you can skip the "Extract Movie Sountrack" stage. In iTunes, hold down the alt/option key and select menu Advanced->Convert to AAC, then navigate to the .mp4 file. iTunes will then import the .mp4's sound track using your default CD ...
