Running Out of Memory
I've read in this forum that H.264 can eat up all of your memory if there's something wrong with the source file. Well, I don't know there's something wrong with the source file until handbrake eats up all the memory and takes down my system. Is there a way to tell Handbrake to not go past a certain...

Re: How to add movie ratings to iTunes....
I haven't used in a long time, but 90% is pretty decent, in which case, I think I might incorporate it into my new apps. I'll look up the developer scripts. Thanks for the info ^_^. If MetaX had been updated it'd be higher :) Great! Let me know if you need any assistance. You can email me at suppor...

Re: How to add movie ratings to iTunes....
A little FYI on tagChimp (from its developer). In an effort to make tagChimp as good as it can be I updated the tagChimp lookup and posting scripts back in February (2009). Pretty much rewrote them both from scratch to make things MUCH more reliable, and with better results. Unfortunately, MetaX (Ma...

Snow Leopard, HB 0.9.3 Trying to encode the first episode of M*A*S*H S3. HB states it has 11 chapters. Yet after the encode, the resulting m4v has 9 when opened in QT Player. Re: Video looks like it's under water (0.9.3)
Looks like it was weightb giving me the problem. I had pretty high Reference frames and B-frames, and if I had Weighted-B frames enabled it destroyed the video. Once I scaled back on the ref and bframes the video started looking better. So I raised the values again and turned off Weighted-B. Presto!...

Video looks like it's under water (0.9.3)
I don't have an activity log, as this happens under a range of different settings and I can't put my finger on what is causing it. I know the source is good, because I can encode it using a legacy ATV preset and it plays back OK. Basically, some encodes look like they're under water, or bits of the ...

Re: Queue window stays open
Your serious, right ? The bug is that the macgui doesnt remember which window you had in front ? No, I would think that the bug, or "feature" (whatever) is that the queue window opens at launch. I guess that's what you get for thinking that you're helping. I'll keep it to myself next time.

Queue window stays open
Mac 9.2
OS X 10.5.2 PPC
Not sure if this is a bug, but after quitting HB and relaunching, the queue window is open and *behind* the main window. Before quitting, the queue window was open and in front.

Re: Forced subtitles drops setting
If this helps to make a decision: this may seem like a minor issue, but when doing multiple DVDs, this has turned into quite a hassle. On more than one occasion I've forgotten to press the Add to Queue button because of the extra steps. I know this is my error, but it would be very nice if all I had...

v.0.9.1 (2007100800) OS X 10.5.1 I have added the following to my preset Subtitles: Autoselect Forced Subs Only: Checked When adding a new movie and selecting my preset, the Subtitles pulldown remains on Autoselect, but the Forced Subs Only checkbox becomes deselected and grayed out. "It is recommended that both "Autoselect" and "Forced" be used in conjunction." I use an AppleTV preset for 90% or my encodes, and it suits me just fine. I don't go to movies, so when a new movie comes out on DVD that I know will be good I'll buy it then encode it. Some...

Ensure that Handbrake has auto-selected the correct Audio track. By default it selects the first one. You may need to manually override the default if that is the directors commentary (which would be rare, as that is usually last). Is there a way to tell which is the correct track without encoding ...

Subtitles & Directory Commentary
I'm using the Apple TV preset. When I select subtitles I also get the director's commentary. I'm not checking any other options. Movies so far; Apocalypto + Pan's Labrinth.

Re: Smaller picture when viewed through Apple TV
I am sorry if I have missed a discussion on this (I did look for it), but I have noticed that a some DVDs I have tried to burn ("The Game" being the most recent) play in a reduced size through Apple TV. That is to say the picture does not fill my plasma and has black bars on all sides. Th...
batches
This has probably been covered before, but I searched and couldn't find anything, other than some CLI scripts. In Visual Hub I can drag all of my VIDEO_TS folders into the batch window and it'll encode all of them using the same setting. Even though I've purchased Visual Hub, it's not anamorphic (ye...

Visual Hub is using ffmpeg - would that make a difference? What exactly do you mean by this? That you're using ffmpeg's mpeg-4 part 2 encoder? Or that you're using x264 through ffmpeg? Because if it's the former...yes, that would make a huge difference. I'm running a batch right now so I can't real...

No, I'm not synching, and I won't, either. I have waaay too many movies to even bother putting them on that puny HD. The G5 and base station are only about 20ft. away and it's practically line of sight. However, my visual hub files are playing properly - and they're almost twice as big - so it's not...
