Re: How do I encode this file?

I attached the log to my first post..

EDIT: Checked the file again. It stutters somewhat in VLC but plays back fine in the built-in mediaplayer in Windows 10. Odd! Sorry for wasting your time. :)

How do I encode this file?

I got a movie from a blu-ray disc which has the specs mentioned below. However when I try to encode it, it gets kind of jerky and I wonder why. I've stumbled upon similar kind of stuff with interlaced material but this doesn't seem interlace.. Or is it? Mediainfo doesn't mention interlaced but says ...

Re: Ripping BR/DVD as HEVC 10/12-bit?

Perhaps a stupid question but if Handbrake only supports 8-bit, there's still 10/12-bit options available for HEVC-encoding. What's the point of that?

Ripping BR/DVD as HEVC 10/12-bit?

Is there a reason to encode BR/DVD-rips as 10/12-bits HEVC? I don't think there is but still I am not sure if there's a quality-gain of some sort...?

Limit peak bitrate?

I'm trying to make Plex-friendly BD-rips of my collection but it was obviously not that easy. Plex requires <20Mbps videos or it will start to transcode and I don't want that so I need to keep bitrates below 20megabits.. My problem is bitrate spikes. Assume I set avg bitrate to 12Megabit. using the ...

Encoding 4K with Handbrake?

Is there a way of encoding 4K content with Handbrake? I'm currently using 1.0.7 and while I can open 4K files I can only encode them as 1080p or lower. The GUI won't let me increase the output resolution.

Re: [Invalid] Handbrake doesn't shutdown computer properly

It's annoying since when I wake the computer up from hibernation it immediately shuts down (as it should, sort of).
And I've had this issue for as long as I've used Handbrake (quite a few years now) and on multiple Windows OS's so...

[Invalid] Handbrake doesn't shutdown computer properly

Please describe the problem in as much detail as possible: Since the dawn of time (or atleast Windows XP), Handbrake doesn't shutdown the computer properly after an encode. If it encodes a file and I choose that it should shutdown computer after finished, it almost never does that when I leaves the...

Bob-deinterlacing doesn't deinterlace last frame

Please describe the problem in as much detail as possible: Using the "bob"-deinterlacing option doesn't deinterlace the last frame of the video. Re: Corrupt encoded video with 1.0.1 (1.0.0 aswell)

Okay, I think I've located the issue.. Handbrake doesn't always seem to like mp4-files created by "TMPG Smart Rendererer 5" (an usually excellent application for merging/cutting/editing videos without recoding). I'm under the impression that the above mentioned application is usually very strict whe...

Re: Corrupt encoded video with 1.0.1 (1.0.0 aswell)

Yes, errors always occurs at the same location no matter what player. Since this video contains material of my kids I am not that interested in sharing it online.. Can we solve it in some other way perhaps?

I tried encoding it with an old Handbrake Nightly build and didn't get the errors btw...

Handbrake doesn't shutdown..

I am not sure if this is a "feature" caused by Windows10 cause I never noticed it on Windows7. When I set the que to shutdown my computer when done and I get back to my computer the next morning, it's in sleep-mode only and when I power my computer up it just shuts down Windows at once. Can't say I'...

Accurate framerate conversion

I really love Handbrake, it's my number one tool for videoconverting. I prefer it all the time except when I for some reason need to convert the framerate of a video (editing together old videoclips with different framerates is one example). I've been using "Nero Video" (since dawn of the time) it d...

Re: h.265 and GOP-structure

The "open-gop=0" doesn't fix the problem. Still lots of recoding being done.. Their tool work fantastic with h.264 content (made with Handbrake), but perhaps things will improve in the future with h.265.

h.265 and GOP-structure

I've been experimenting a bit with encoding h.265 videos with Handbrake (latest version at the time I write this..) and later edit these together with "TMPG Smart Renderer 5". If you're unfamiliar with that tool, it's a simple videoediting tool that allows you to merge/edit several videos to one fil...

Encoding question

Assume I have an .mov file captured with my iPhone. It's framerate is something like 59.0XXXX (they differ a bit from file to file). What happens if I recode it with Handbrake (with h.265 for example) to 60fps (constant), but decides to "copy AAC audio" instead of recoding it. Is there a chance of g...

Re: Limit max bitrate in 2-pass mode?

I did a quick test, average vbr = 1000, and vbv-maxrate and vbv-bufsize to 2000, but I still gets peaks at 2500kbps (using bitrate viewer for mp4-files). Anything I've forgotten?

Sometimes I want to rip episode-DVD's as a single mp4/mkv file (mostly children DVD's). Would be nice with builtin functionality to append several titles to eachother.
