Re: HI10P Quality Question
For fun today I brewed up x264 10bit. I re-encoded the intro of an anime. In handbrake I did b-adapt=2:me=umh:subq=10:no-dct-decimate=1:aq-strength=0.6:psy-rd=0.4,0.00:trellis=2:deblock=1,1 crf 22 I then extracted the video stream. I then ran this to create a 10bit version mplayer -nosound -benchmar...

Re: HI10P Quality Question
Ahhh ok so it basically leads to less degradation from source. I already can't tell the difference at CRF 20 or lower for Blu-ray (A few of these people suggesting HI10P where also suggesting CRF 16 or 17 for 1080P content), and while compressing things to be the 4th the size sounds nice, I couldn't...

HI10P Quality Question
I have seen a lot of talk around the interwebz about HI10P. The talk has mostly been coming from anime fan subers(When you google HI10P all that comes up is anime fansuber sites its over the top) who say it provides better compression and higher quality for encodes, at the expensive of time and comp...

What is the time frame for this getting into the nightly? Or is it far enough down the pipeline that I should go and compile from github, and finally upgrade to the new Xcode?

Re: Is it impossible to get help here?
As a general line of suggestion if your upgrading then it might be a good idea to open up (userfolder)/Libary/Application Support/Handbrake and delete UserPresets.plist, and just redo them. Its good to redo them sense the x264(video encoding software) used in 0.9.4 is so much different then the one ...

[asf @ 0x2874800] packet fragment position invalid 0,0 not in 0 I believe the 0,0 is referring to the audio track because Stream #0.0: Audio: wmav2, 44100 Hz, 2 channels, s16, 128 kb/s Try encoding it with out audio and see what happens. I had something similar happen once. If all else fails...

Re: Stuttery movement on a panning scene
^ | | But also this might be an issue with VLC in VLC go to preferences----> All---> Accesses Modules ----> File -----> Then raise the cache value to 1k or 2k. What you might be seeing is a dropping of frames in order to buffer, because pans can cause a higher bit per second (Streams and discs are t...

Re: Two drives, two separate instances of HB possible?
With the CLI it is, but you have to have a pretty fast computer, or one with a stupid amount of cores for it to make any difference. I have a 6 core 3.2 GHz Mac Pro tower and a i7 iMac. The only time its ever worth it to run more then one instance is when encoding Blu-Rays on the Mac Pro tower, and ...

So for now just re-encode it with out detelecining then? All I am loosing is compression right, as long as decomb and same as source is used?

Re: VOB Subtitle Bug
Yep dropping detelecining did it. As long as I have decomb on and same as source, turning off detelecine just means that it wont drop extra frames right, meaning the file will be slightly bigger right? Is there in particular reason this would happen with this one set and nothing else I own. The comp...

Re: VOB Subtitle Bug
Will test it out. I am guessing if that is the case its because there is something funny with how the disk is mastered right? Also if this is the case would ripping the subtitles out from the none detelecined version and then remuxing work?

VOB Subtitle Bug
I am getting Random VOB Subtitle line drops from one DVD in particular. The log looks pretty normal and I didn't really do anything different, its by chapter and not time stamp by the way and the rest of the subtitles have perfect timing so it doesn't appear to be a type of sync issue. Doesn't work ...

http://trac.handbrake.fr/changeset/3599 I have a few things I encoded with the affected versions that I haven't gotten to watch yet and since my computer isn't doing anything I was wondering if it would be a good idea to just redo them, but since since 3599 fixed another decoding problem I am guessi...

A Work Around For Dealing With PGS Subtitles
THE FOLLOWING SHOULD WORK IN LINUX AND MACOSX BUT WILL NOT WORK IN WINDOWS BECAUSE OF THE WAY MICROSOFT HANDLES FILE PATHS I have seen a few other posters posting about how Blu Ray PGS subtitles are throwing them for a loop. PGS are new and a little more trickier then other subtitle types so implem...

Re: Subtitles from Bluray are still not recognised
PG subtitles are actually supported by MKVtoolnix for remuxing. So if you really need them and can't find a .srt you like, demux them out, then run everything through handbrake, and then remux them back in to the file you ran through handbrake. I have done this a few times and it works perfectly. Th...

Re: Interlaced frames/fields support is not implemented
From the Streamclip Website MPEG Streamclip lets you play and edit QuickTime, DV, AVI, MPEG-4, MPEG-1; MPEG-2 or VOB files or transport streams with MPEG, PCM, or AC3 audio (MPEG-2 playback component required); DivX (with DivX 6) and WMV (with Flip4Mac WMV Player) . MPEG Streamclip can export all th...

Re: Interlaced frames/fields support is not implemented
I had some content like this and I just had to break down and log in to windows and install MEGUI and all it's depedencies. That way you can use Windows media player as the decoder and then run a basic decomb filter and with the same MeGUI script run it through x264. Once it's all actually installed...

Re: BD PGS Subtitles
btw as an update XBMC, as of 4 days ago, supports PG subtitles http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/10538 for some reason the FFMPEG patch that didn't work all that well at playing PG subtitles correctly doesn't seem to screw them up in XBMC when applied to FFMPEG inside XBMC from the testing of the members ...

Thanks for the reply. Yes. If you want it to be even closer to the source, change the Constant Quality setting from RF 20 to a lower value (not much point going beyond RF19-18 though). Okay. That sounds good. I would like to keep the video quality as close to DVD as possible. Save yourself some dis...
