Unfortunately, the PS3 doesn't support more than stereo output from video files yet. This should be able to be fixed with a firmware update, but when that will happen is up to Sony. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for sooner rather than later though.

This may be a stupid question, but video on a DVD is already encoded in MPEG-2. Isn't there someway to just grab the video as it is already on the DVD and dump it directly to a file without any encoding? I don't know much about the structure on a DVD, but wouldn't think it would involve much more th...

I thought the documentation wasn't updated yet because I saw the .7 guide...guess I should have seen that was under the legacy tutorials! D'oh!

What's the command line option for this, or does it do it automatically?

Have the presets changed at all with 0.9.0? If so, can you post the command lines for the presets that have changed?

Thanks!

Well you were right, the -f AVI -E AC3 wouldn't play on the PS3, but the -6 6ch did. Unfortunately, it was still only 2 channel. I wonder if the PS3 just refuses to play 5.1 from a video file for some reason.

Ok, one last question (I think). Using the command line you gave me, will that record the sound in 5.1? If not, is there an option to record it in 5.1?

Well, I think I found the problem to this one. I remembered that a while back I over-clocked my computer from an 1800+ to a 1900+. I set it back to 1800+ and it worked perfectly! Not only that, but I swear it ran faster. Before I got about 7-9fps and with it back at 1800+ I was getting around 11fps....

Possible bug in linux CLI

I'm having a problem where after converting a DVD to an MP4 I see red and blue dots throughout playback of the MP4. I notice these dots when I play back on my computer or on my PS3. They are most noticeable when there is only white text on a black background or in a black and white scene, but are st...

Well, that worked great! I do have a couple questions though. First, I noticed while playing it back (on my computer or PS3) that there are red and blue dots that flash throughout playback. Is this normal and is there anyway to avoid that? Second, is there anyway to speed it up? I have an Athlon XP ...

Ripping DVD to use on PS3 with CLI

I've been banging my head against the wall trying to get this to work with no luck yet. Basically, I just want to rip my DVD to a file format supported on the PS3 so I can watch my movies without having to put the DVD in. I've found a couple suggestions on here, but every time I try to play it the P...
