Re: How-To: Automate DVD & Blu-Ray (Backup, Encoding & Tagging)

Hi anyone able to help modify the Batch Rip Automator Service to replace Fairmount/VLC with Mac DVD Ripper Pro (MDRP) or RipIt? I've tried using RipIt as I was attracted to the automation and slickness. I love how it ejects the DVDs when finished. This way I can run the entire thing headless (i.e. ...

Re: How-To: Automate DVD & Blu-Ray (Backup, Encoding & Tagging)

I'm pretty new to Handbrake and the whole DVD ripping / encoding process. Can someone tell me the benefit of first ripping the DVD to the hard drive, then encoding it using Handbrake? Why not just use handbrake from the beginning? Thank a lot for any help...and for this post! As many have said, it'...

Re: How-To: Automate DVD & Blu-Ray (Backup, Encoding & Tagging)

Thanks once again for your help. I think I value the automation more than the ability to do mkv, it was just an experiment so I can easily go back to m4v. No idea what else the problem was in there but I'll ditch the whole thing - I'm punching slightly above my weight delving into these custom setti...

Re: How-To: Automate DVD & Blu-Ray (Backup, Encoding & Tagging)

Thanks for your help mate you've been brilliant. Now I've moved on to perfecting the encode stage. I've tried to customize the rip settings for standard DVD sources. Any idea why the script is producing this error? PROCESSING: Stardust (2007) *Scanning Folder: 'Stardust (2007)' Will encode the follo...

Re: How-To: Automate DVD & Blu-Ray (Backup, Encoding & Tagging)

The update seems to have fixed a lot of errors for me. DVDs now activate the script consistently. However on first go, Terminal produced: laptop:~ nathan$ /Users/nathan/Library/Automator/Batch\ Rip.action/Contents/Resources/batchRip.sh ; exit; ERROR: makemkvcon command tool is not setup to execute E...

Re: How-To: Automate DVD & Blu-Ray (Backup, Encoding & Tagging)

Hey macjedi In response to some above posts: I too have had problems getting the initial folder action to work on the *second* dvd inserted and further dvds. The dvd I was trying DID have a space in the name (SHOOTER_EUROPE). Haven't tried dvds without spaces. The first time I got the action to work...

Re: How-To: Automate DVD & Blu-Ray (Backup, Encoding & Tagging)

Absolutely the most insanely impressive tutorial I have ever seen in my history in the Mac community. The effort macjedi has put in is clear to see from beginning to end - professional screenshots, thoughtful notes, tips, detailed instructions... so may I be the first to say a huge thank you on beha...

Re: How-To: Automate DVD Backup w/ FairMount & HandBrake

Many thanks for the prompt reply, class! The update you've promised sounds amazingly impressive, I'm highly looking forwards to it. Any idea of when it will be ready? Does it use Hazel to move the files around? With regards my current situation do you recommend I try another disc, a film maybe as op...

Re: How-To: Automate DVD Backup w/ FairMount & HandBrake

Great script, thanks to all who have worked so hard to get this working for noobs like me, especially mac jedi. I have managed to use the scripts here to get MTR to run automatically (prefer MTR to fairmount) and to batch encode at midnight using the CLI. I used this for the first time last night an...
