Re: HandBrake 0.9.6 Discussion Thead
Hello, I'm on Windows 7 x64, I downloaded 0.9.6 x64 version but it installed here: C:\Program Files (x86) Not: C:\Program Files As do other x64 applications. I checked under "about handbrake" version and there is no indication of x32 or x64 version. How can I tell what version I'm running...

Re: HandBrake 0.9.6 Discussion Thead
I just wanted to say thanks to the devs for maintaining such an excellent program. It has been a long time since I've had a nightly version of Handbrake not work exactly the way it should. I want to state my opinion that I am happy that the devs move forward with the program and eliminate code and f...

Re: Presets & Subtitles
I dont think so. I would imagine it would be very hard to create a preset that would tell Handbrake to just "know" which subtitle stream you wanted to use. Assuming you are ripping from a DVD, the subtitle language you want could be bundled with other languages or trivia tracks, or even cl...

Re: Yes, I know handbrake doesn't do this.
This might not apply to you, but if the two video files are just two differnet halves of the same movie or video file, most playback programs (like XBMC) will automatically start the second file if you put "cd1" and "cd2" in the file name. For example, if you had the movie Braveh...

Re: File sizes are over 9gb!
There are already good replies here, but just for the sake of giving you what works for me. When selecting 19.5 RF, I usually end up with MKVs between 1 - 1.5GB and am very happy with them. Even a long movie like one of the Lord of the Rings movies is just a tad bit over 2 GB...well under your 4 GB ...

Re: Strange Artifacts in Outerspace and Underwater Scenes
Thanks for the reply, but I guess I was hoping for more information on how to prevent this. Im no expert, but I cant believe this is a decoding problem. I can see these artifacts regardless of how I play the files. I see them using VLC on my Windows 7 desktop, and I see the exact same artifacts when...

Re: Included subtitles of loaded mkv not shown up in Handbra
A workaround I use is to search the internet for SRT subtitle files for the movies you are encoding. I have found that www.subtitlesz.com is a good source. They're not all perfect (and it stinks to have to redo an encode just for the subtitles) but a tip Ive found is when downloading an SRT file for...

Strange Artifacts in Outerspace and Underwater Scenes
I have been using Handbrake for a while, and feel I have a good grasp of the basic features. I have converted over 500 of my DVDs to the MKV container using h.264 as the video codec and I usually use Dolby or DTS passthru for Audio. Recently, Ive become endoding my Blu-Rays in 1080p resolution with ...

Re: [Fixed] Win GUI Bug with Chapter Markers (for DVD & Video)
I am having this exact bug on the latest svn3036. My symptoms are exactly as identified above in which if I select a DVD folder to encode, the Chapter Markers checkbox is grayed out and I cannot select it, unless I switch presets then go back to the original preset I was using. This problem existed ...

Re: HandBrake SVN2829 Snapshot
With all of the codecs you've dropped, I don't see how you expect to sell many copies of Handbrake in the future. I actually went out of my way to register on the site to counteract this post and say THANK YOU to the developers who work on this project. I have used Handbrake to conver over 4...
