Re: Splitting movie and avoiding recoding?

Is there an alternative tool that is better for splitting an existing video? I don't want to have to go back to the attic for the DVD.

Thanks. BTW I had accidentally made a duplicate post (not sure how to delete): viewtopic.php?f=5&t=33581

Splitting movie and avoiding recoding?

I have an mpeg4 video file, that I wish to split, since I hadn't realised it was a multi-episode file. If I pass this file through Handbrake, will it re-encode the video, and thus losing information or is it smart enough to realise the output format is the same as the input and just copy the frames ...

[Implemented] "Send file to", making it non-blocking

Please describe what you would like to see added to HandBrake: The "Send file to" option, on the Mac, blocks until the handling application responds. Could this feature be made to be non-blocking on the HandBrake side. Why would you like to see this added: It allows the whole conversion p...

Re: Burned Subtitle Font Size

Does MP4 support video layers, so that the burnt in subs actually appear on another video layer? Of course the next question is if any players support this, if it is possible.

Export Presets individually

It would be nice to be able to save a given preset, so that it can be shared with other people. Currently we can only export the whole list, from what I can see.

For example on the MacUI I would imagine right-clicking on a preset and selecting 'export...'.

Re: Subtitles track or in frame?

I have been looking around, to see what sort of support MPEG4 specification has for subtitles. Does anyone have any information on this? I imagine the conversion process will need to support importing the subtitle form text file or video, cache it in a suitable format, and then output it in a format...

Subtitles track or in frame?

I used handbrake to rip a DVD, so that I could watch it on my iPod, and decided to select the subtitles option. When I played back with VLC and Quicktime I saw the subtitles on screen, but the programs don't seem to recognise a subtitle track being included in the video. This leads me to suspect tha...

Converting from other formats?

If I understand rightly Handbrake uses ffmpeg to do the work. If this is indeed the case, would it be conceivable to use it to convert from other formats, than DVD, such as wmv and avi? Currently these formats are ignored.

I am also having the same issue. At the moment I am having to use VLC to do the job, but since HandBrake offers some extra features I would rather be using that. In VLC it indicates the audio track is 'mpga', though not sure what codec tht is. EDIT: did a little more research and 'mpga' is mpeg-1/la...
