Can't open program because of preferance problem
When I went to open Version 1.0.7 today I could not do so a I got this message. "A problem occured when trying to save your preferences. Any settings you changed may need to be reset the next time HandBrake launches. System.IO.IOException: The process cannot access the file 'C:\Users\Paul\AppDa...

How to use DVD Teletex titles?
I have just downloaded & installed your new version of Handbrake which I have been using for years. As we get older its much more important to have subtitles include because my wife struggles with hearing. I see that certain types of titles can be either burnt in or passed through. When I have t...

Adding CSV Chapter markers to file
I'm using latest Version. I use my PVR to record off air & transfer files to PC via cat cable to PC. I open the MPEG2 TS file in VideoReDo TV Suite H264 & chop out adds then save file . The file has the original CC titles retained & plays back OK but I end up with a long file because the...

I have read on these forums that setting are automatically saved as a preset. I have also seen that it's suggested to always have the decomb filter turned on. Every time that I open HB to do another conversion I find that although my other settings are saved recomb isn't. Is there a trick to doing t...

I read your FAQ file about playback being too dark & it says to try adjusting GUI settings? I have looked at every tab in the programs settings that I can find & don't see any mention of GUI at all. Where do I find them? I'm using Version 1.10.2.7286 I recently did a clean install of Windows...

Recode MPEG2 TS & keep titles for MKV?
I'm running version 1.10.2.7286 64 bit. I record MPEG2 ts directly off the air. I know that if I then trim the file using VideoReDo. At this stage the file has subtitles embedded in it. Is there any way using Handbrake to re code and to keep these titles to create an MKV file doing this? I know that...

Change A/R or crop?
When I encode for myself I always leave old 4x3 ratio files in the same aspect ratio. Now I have been asked to decode some old files but convert them to 16.9. All of the originals are PAL 720x576. I have looked at the guide & it seems as if I have 2 choices which amount to either crop or stretch...

Re: Auto add subtitles feature not included in latest release?
Great news thanks for that. Now all I need id to be able to add chapter markers at a preselected interval if you can't do it on an individual basis.

Auto add subtitles feature not included in latest release?
I find that some features that were in the nightly builds aren't in your official new release. One that I thought that was particularly useful was being able to set options to always add subtitles for your chosen language. Unless I'm going blind I can't find this feature in the latest release & ...

Can't open video file
I'm going through lots of my old DVDs saving them using DVDshrink & then trying to convert them to MKV's. None of them are encrypted. I have a few disks where DVDShrink saves 99% of file before seeing some problem in the end credits. I can't open the 99% complete file in Handbrake because of mis...

Deleting unwanted audio
I have a couple of questions about extra unwanted audio tracks. I have several files where the MKV file has 3 different audio tracks and only 1 is required to be kept. Can they be deleted without having to recoding or reduce the quality of the video portion of things & if so how is this done? So...

What I did was to download the nightly build. I notice that the opening interface is slightly different. I encoded one of the old files OK. I have yet to try a queue.

Re: Job Queue finished but now O/P files?
I should have mentioned that I have several logs like this. I then took the same DVD's to an older slower PC & tried everything for the a second time & everything worked. On my main PC all files failed.

Re: Job Queue finished but now O/P files?
This is just one of many logs I found at that location. I don't know if thats what your after or not. I notice at the bottom it says that the files were encrypted. They certainly weren't. They were old movies that were on DVD's & had been created with DVDShrink. I wished to change them to MKV's....

I loaded several files into Handbrake to convert them to MKV. I'm told Queue is finished but I can't find any output, even after doing a search. I'm including both logs HandBrake 0.9.9.5530 - 64bit Version OS: Microsoft Windows NT 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz R...

Choosing a/r settings for epics
I'm recoding some old movies made in the 50's & 60's most of which were widescreen epics what are on DVD's made using VideoReDo. When I import them into Handbrake I'm apt to get a video setting on 720x400. The preview appears as if the picture is squashed. What I have then done is look up the pi...

Re: Hard and Soft Subtitles Guide
Once you have your Blu-ray ripped & its going to have the subtitles burnt in what bitrate do you use & what is the likely file size? I have sometimes been asked to do the same thing but burn it to a 25gb single layer Blu-ray disc & many videos exceed that 25GB size. I don't know how to c...

Re: Coping with different a/r from same disk,
I used VideoReDo to just copy out the files I needed & was able to encoded from that. It does however prompt me to ask why aren't there just some presets for the most common aspect ratios? I suspect had I not done what I did it might still have been possible to start with an incorrectly encoded ...

Coping with different a/r from same disk,
I was given an old dual layer DVD that had on it 3 complete videos which was requested to be converted to MKV. The first old film is 4X3 & looks good in preview. The other 2 are much wider maybe 2.35 or thereabouts. It previews squashed up as a 4x3. How do I fix this? They were decoded using DVD...

Adding chapter markers in MKV at preset intervals?als
Many of the film we record off air are commercial free & have no adds at all. These files can run for quite a long while. I know that there is no chapter markers to import like from a DVD. Is there any other way to add to my MKV file some chapter markers even if they are all set say 5 minutes ap...

Re: 2 audio tracks & 2 subtitle tracks in same file
I had some confusion about this because both the subtitle tracks were in English. One being the films dialog & the second one being directors comments. I eventually got it through just trial & error. We are not helped by the fact that your preferences aren't all saved for a profile. For inst...

2 audio tracks & 2 subtitle tracks in same file
I have been trying to make an MKV file that has both 2 audio tracks as well as 2 sets of English subtitles. The audio is working fine but I'm confused as to whether or not I can get 2 subtitles in the file. I can use VCL & see both of each. I know that it would be crazy to try to burn in a subti...
