Re: Help for old TV Series DVDs

Well, posting the Required Activity Logs would certainly help us in advising you. But digital noise along the right edge of your video sounds nothing like an interlace/telecine issue, because that only applies to the horizontal axis. It is probably unfilled macroblocks in the recording, so just crop...

Non Linear Editor.
Handbrake is an encoder mostly.

Re: Gopro video converting for imovie not the right size

Good luck. I still suggest an NLE for what you are trying to do. Handbrake is limited. Resolve is free.

Re: Gopro video converting for imovie not the right size

Use a simple ratio just like you learned in school. I won't do the math for you, and Handbrake probably isn't the best tool. You'll be cropping a lot off the top and bottom, so you actually might "mind". There is absolutely nothing wrong with including a pillarboxed segment in your widescr...

Re: Can I convert a movie's audio codec only?

It's always better to increase bitrate a bit to compensate for losses, but 320 will be enough.

Re: Gopro video converting for imovie not the right size

You cannot "convert" a 4:3 video aspect to 16:9 without stretching, pillarboxing (black borders), or cropping; the rectangles are different sizes, sorry. It's ordinary math.

Since you're on Mac. you might want to check Subler. I don't know much about it.

Re: Gopro video converting for imovie not the right size

Code: Select all

Stream #0:0(eng): Video: h264 (High) (avc1 / 0x31637661), yuvj420p(pc, bt709), 1920x1440 [SAR 1:1 DAR 4:3], 60703 kb/s, 59.94 fps, 59.94 tbr, 60k tbn, 119.88 tbc (default)
That's why.
Your video source reports 4:3 DAR, not 16:9.

Re: Handbrake no longer works after Win10 update

I tried same disc, also tried same files under both OS Builds to confirm that the OS update seems to be the factor. I can confirm that is not the case, as I am able to duplicate the same conditions here without issues. I rather suspect the DVD player on one of your machines is reporting more read e...

Re: Encoded video won't save or we can't find it

Your log says your full path to save is

Code: Select all

 /Users/MacBook/Library/Containers/fr.handbrake.HandBrake/Data/Movies/IMG_4524.mp4
Whether or not that is a valid location, you will need to figure out.

Re: Difference between HB and Quicktime export conversion

Quicktime MOV is a container, not a format.
MP4 is a container, not a format.
Lacking required logs for Handbrake and MediaInfo for your Quicktime file, your question is a nonstarter, sorry.

Re: Best video cropping program for Handbrake?

Sorry, I misread your question, and apologies. You can losslessly trim AVC video in VideoRedo for Windows and maintain GOP integrity.
Premiere and other nonlinear editors will usually re-encode it, but not much quality is sacrificed.

Re: Best video cropping program for Handbrake?

You heard wrong, because ALL programs that crop video will re-encode it, introducing losses.
Premiere is no better nor no worse than any other nonlinear editing program -- it depends solely on the encoder used.

Re: How to get storage size and display size equal to source ratio aspect?

With your PAL SD source, SAR is 5:4 DAR is either 4:3 or 16:9, you didn't say. PAR is either 1.06_ or 1.42_, respectively. Those numbers exist by definition, not from something one thinks "sounds logical." There is no reason to change them. If you want to store your file at display resolu...

Re: Same as Source and VFR results in widely different VFR

Variable frame rate is only a compression technique; there is no other advantage, and there is no independent variable for VFR among applications or source material, so yes, every treatment will be different. Very different. You could pass your observation off a curiosity; if you will be editing in ...
