Re: Divx Plus

Divx plus files have an extension of .divx but are actually mkv files. Actually, this is not true. DivX Plus files have an .mkv extension, and are H.264 video with AAC audio. Files with the .divx extension are DivX, DivX Ultra, or DivX HD. The PlayStation 3 is currently DivX certified, which means ...

DivX Plus HD - H.264/MKV/AAC

Hey All, Wanted to let you know that at CES, DivX announced the launch of DivX Plus HD devices from two partners (Philips an Seagate), which means if you're going to use Handbrake, we've come up with some settings for compatibility with the DivX Plus HD certification. Here's the following for your a...

Re: No more PS3 support?

Okay, so I just tried the following: I had an xvid/avi and an SRT from AnySubs, muxed with with DivX Mux GUI, and played the .divx output via USB. Turned the subtitles on under the options menu, and I saw text-based subs on my video :-) So, confirmed that PS3 supports DivX/AVI with muxed SRT subtitl...

Re: Best Settings to re-encode DivX/Xvid to h264??

DivX/Xvid AVI file should be playable on the PS3, because it's DivX Certified... The only time I ever had trouble was when streaming from my NAS, but after a PS3 firmware update, the NAS streams them fine again. For H.264 files, if you can manage to re-mux them to an MP4 container without re-encodin...

Re: No more PS3 support?

The PS3 is DivX Certified, so if it's not supporting SRT subs muxed into a .divx container, then this is a problem. I'll try some on my setup when I get a chance, but that is supposed to be part of the spec. When you tested the output from DivX Mux GUI on your PS3, were you streaming the .divx files...

Re: No more PS3 support?

Thanks for clarifying eddyg. It's a shame HB doesn't support AVI since its introduced great support for subtitles. Getting subtitles into an Xvid is an awkward and unrefined process (as far as I have found). For muxing in subtitles into your existing AVIs, you can use the free DivX Mux GUI. It also...

Re: Related Xbox360 development

Hi Brady... thanks for spreading the word. Users of Handbrake can definitely play a part in testing this, since getting native MKV support in Windows 7 is an important thing for the format. Not sure if you're all aware, but the next generation of DivX hardware player certification is H.264 video wit...

Re: Need Settings for DVD Player

I have had a lot of success using Xvid instead of FFMPEG, constant quality at 90%, and downmixing the audio to MP3, because I believe this is the audio codec in the DivX spec for hardware players. The newer DivX standard, "DivX Plus HD", is H.264 video with AAC surround audio in an MKV (Ha...
