Re: Detelecine: curious frame rates for NTSC & PAL of same

Re: Detelecine: curious frame rates for NTSC & PAL of same
My apologies, mduell.
I'm still trying to figure out how to find my Activity Log. Not quite clear, but I'll keep at it.
I'm using the program MediaInfo to ascertain the frame rates of the files.

Detelecine: curious frame rates for NTSC & PAL of same DVD
I am trying to produce the cleanest, best .mp4 rendering that I can, for viewing on Apple TV, of the DVD, U2 Popmart Live from Mexico City . I have both the NTSC version (29.97 fps) as well as the PAL version (25 fps). Both DVD's are clearly interlaced, and as such I was assuming the possibility tha...

Any reason not to just use 6 ch AAC for iTunes/Apple TV?
Is there any reason why it does not make sense to encode only one, 6 ch AAC audio track for Apple TV and iTunes purposes? For years, I've used handbrake for converting my DVD's and Blu-rays, and always used the presets which include a 2 ch AAC stereo track and a 5.1 (or 6) ch AC3 track. Recently, I ...

Re: DTS 5.0 Audio
Rodeo, May I be so bold as to ask for a bit of assistance. I realize the rules indicate to not ask for help on compiling, etc... That said I feel I'm very close and with a bit of direction will be underway. I am on a Mac, have downloaded XCode, have downloaded and compiled yasm, and I've completed t...

Re: if an appletv 1st generation has 720p output then why...
A 720p video at 24fps (frames per second) is less workload on a device (Apple TV 1) than a 720p video at 29.97 (30) frames per second. If Apple TV 1's maximum is a 720p at 24fps, then the setting selected by our Handbrake friends is because not all 720p sources are at only 24fps. Some are at 30fps, ...

DTS 5.0 Audio
I'm encoding The Cider House Rules Blu-ray and this is the first time I've come across a source audio of DTS 5.0. In trying to use the Apple TV 2 preset it is not wanting to populate the surround sound audio track for me other than a 224kbs setting. Has anyone dealt with this and what's the right/be...

Re: mkv -> mp4, HB loses subs
...In your case, it could be the same problem I had or there could be some other issue going on here like the subs might be in a format such as srt or tx3g which are not burnable. The activity log from your encode will tell us if that is the problem. Here is my Activity log. I was not/am not sure w...

Re: mkv -> mp4, HB loses subs
I'm having the same issue... I have an MKV of The Lord of the Rings that displays forced English subs, during the Elvish scenes, just fine... I'm trying to convert the MKV to .mp4/.m4v to play on Apple TV, but I can't figure out how to preserve the forced subs. I've selected "Foreign Audio Sear...

Could you share how to go about implementing that? I've never added a patch before... I did a bit of a search and found instructions on how to add a patch via deca52.c (all greek to me  )... Is that how to implement this patch also? If so, where? I'm running Tiger and have not been able to com...

Re: 2:10:47 video length limitation
Hi all, I can't be chance: I tried backing up two DVDs I own: The Matrix and Roman Polanski's Macbeth, and in both cases the video stops at 2:10:47. The backup settings are the default iPhone/iPod Touch ones with Handbrake 0.9.1 . Is it just me? Giacecco I encoded Memoirs Of A Geisha the other day ...

Re: Chapters doubling/duplicating (again?)
Since 9.1 and all subsequent builds There have been no subsequent builds... Apparently, I'm not using the proper terminology. When I refer to "build" I'm referring to the regular/ongoing releases that I compile, i.e.. 1071, 1075, 1076, etc... (1076 being the latest). With these, I still h...

Chapters doubling/duplicating (again?)
I'm sorry if this has been discussed or if it is well known. My searches did not produce any threads about this... Since 9.1 and all subsequent builds, I cannot encode NTSC Video 30fps files without getting double the chapters (a problem, if I recall, that was happening a while back). It doesn't mat...

I tried the detelecine option but that didn't help. I also tried the detelecine option in conjunction with the deinterlace option but that didn't work either.
