Re: 3D Blu-Ray

Yes. Some further reading shows that the 3D on Blu-Ray discs is stored as a full encode of one side (left, usually) along with a difference file that lets the decoder build the other side form the first. (That's why to non-3d-aware hardware or software, like Handbrake, it looks like a normal 2D movi...

3D Blu-Ray

As a new owner of a 3D TV, I'm looking to convert the 3D Blu-Ray discs I'm getting for insertion into my HD-based video jukebox... With the 3D intact. So far, no love. I can rip and convert Alice in Wonderland, but it comes out 2D - No side-by-side, no interleaved, no alternate frames... Even the pr...

Re: Selecting subtitles of only specified language via CLI

You can run with -t 0 to get a info dump of the source, which will tell you what language each track is. Then you can choose which ones to include. I've found some audio and subtitle tracks on some disks fail to provide a language, so if you automate this you need to decide to include those or not. ...

Runtime Revolution Tool For HandBrake

Is there anyone out there that uses both Runtime Revolution and HandBreak? If so, I'll be happy to share my automation project in exchange for some feedback. It's very, very rough around the edges, not a final product by any means. If you want to adjust its encoding settings, for intance, you'll hav...

Re: Feature Request: Save Queue to file

For those that aren't faint of heart without their mouse, the command line interface on the Mac can be a bit more resilient when it comes to HandBrake crashes (which virtually never happen for me except for tiny titles that aren't actual usable content anyway). At least, you can save a queued up bun...

DVD Disc Name to Title Name Database

The subject above IS the subject of this thread, but as far as I can determine, it is a wishful subject - A subject lacking reality. If there IS a database through which one can translate the filename of a DVD into the actual title of its contents, I can't find it. I've found that with a movie's IMD...

Re: Combing Detection

If I've followed this thread right, the code is testing every other line of a frame one pixel at a time, scoring each pixel as to "how combed" it is. Currently, the sum total of the scores for the whole frame is checked against a threshold value to tell if deinterlacing is needed for that ...

Re: Combing Detection

Problem A- If comb detection is run on all frames, credits can sometimes get deinterlaced by comb detection, because the detector confuses serifed type for interlacing. One outstanding feature of serifed credits is that the seemingly-interlaced lines are far apart. With most normal interlacing, the...

New GUI Layout Idea

I just got an idea for a new GUI layout and wanted to write it down before I forgot. I'll try to make a mock-up image and add it here later. The basic idea is to swap the importance of the settings and queue displays. Right now we see the settings primarily, then we pick a Title to apply them to and...

Re: Which File to choose on DVD to rip?

You really don't need to care about what is inside the VIDEO_TS folder when using HandBrake. It will take care of all that and translate it into something easier for humans to understand, namely the Title list. The DVD format doesn't provide much in the way of meta-data for each title, like name of ...

Re: subtitles won't appear

...for the purposes of burning to DVD. If you are trying to make a DVD that will play in a typical DVD player, HandBrake isn't the right tool. HandBrake is a converter, not a copier. If you are picking a subtitle track, check to see if there is more than one. Sometimes there might be two English su...

Re: Unexpectedly Quits only sometimes... Settings too High?

I've been meaning to delve into a similar issue, myself. I've had a few titles that would repeatedly fail in the CLI version, but when I set up almost the same conversion with the GUI client, they worked. The only difference that I could see was that I used the "slowest" deinterlace settin...

Anyone know how to rip Rush Hour 3? I can't get it to rip using handbrake or MTR. MTR says 'Warning BUP and IFO not the same." Ditto. In HandBrake from the Rush Hour 3 DVD only a few of the misc tracks show up. No main feature(s). (MTR 14j had mixed results... Unsure yet if any really worked. ...

If they all use the same settings, you can use the CLI version to "queue" them all at once. Once you have the right command string, make multiple copies of it in a text file, incrementing the track number and the filename. Then copy the whole lot (including a blank line at the end) and pas...

It almost looked deliberate... How the picture FADES to grayscale and the audio jumps back to near the start of the movie, plays for a bit, then color fades back in and the movie continues. Happens three times. Weird.

But yeah, use the slightly shorter title and you don't get that.

I've been adding external, chained Firewire drives as I go, now up to 3.15TB total. I don't raid them together, preferring to rely on the original DVDs as the "backup", and I like to be able to detach a drive at a time should I feel the need. I have software I wrote that indexes the movies...

When you convert with HandBrake, you are given the option as to which audio track to use. The GUI version lets you pick up to 2, and the CLI version lets you grab as many as you want. You are either selecting the wrong audio track, or selecting more than one and all are being played back. Current ve...

I've had no luck getting a good conversion of Chicken Little or Madagascar. Both have zero cells, but even removing them with DVD2OneX doesn't result in a good convert. Anyone have any luck with these?

I had this problem way back. I traced them trouble to the moment when the Doctor and Rose sit down to watch telly. The aspect ratio of the TV clip is different from the rest of the show. That seems to throw HandBrake for a loop. I keep meaning to revisit the problem again. Perhaps the TV clip is it'...

Sometimes, for no particular reason that I can see, a rip with HandBrake will seem to go fine, but the final file is broken in some way. The odd thing is, if you rip it again, in exactly the same way... It will work. I see this mainly when ripping extra features, probably because there are more of t...
