Re: How to use MediaInfo results in Handbrake?

Since so many of these are the defaults or covered by a preset or tune, why not figure that out so you only need to provide at most a couple options?

Re: Optimal cores for Apple 2160p60 4K HEVC Surround preset?

So I figured I'd do a little experiment to show one possibility of HEVC scaling: i7-5960X (8C/16T) with 2133Mhz DDR4 A 100 second 1080p film (24fps) clip with moderate motion and detail x265 10-bit/Main10 preset slow with rect=0 at RF 23 HB 1.3.1 on Windows Used pools to limit x265 encoder threads: ...

Re: Optimal cores for Apple 2160p60 4K HEVC Surround preset?

Diminishing returns aren't the same as topping out, so perhaps you can clarify what you're actually asking. For x264 diminishing returns start (trivially) at 2 (maybe 3 because of video decoder and other threads), but don't become particularly noticeable until ~6. Topping out is north of 32 even for...

Re: Keyframe intervals in x264

[19:22:12] encx264: min-keyint: 30, keyint: 300 Default min keyint is 1x framerate, default max keyint is 10x framerate. Balances efficiency with reasonable seeking performance. Adjust either to your liking, or make them equal if you really want an IDR frame every 60 frames. Also you could specify ...

Re: All coverted films are called "STEREO" instead of right title

This thread has figured out the problem relates to the audio track being labelled. This was indeed added in 1.3.0 because people wanted audio track labels and find them useful. No player should be labelling the entire video based on the audio track label. That's a crap player, and you should fix it ...

Re: Misc Frames Randomly Occure Compressing Joined MP4ss

That's a problem with your joiner. Especially since you say it's faster than mkvmerge, which is regarded as fast for doing it the right way, it's probably doing it the wrong way. Garbage in, garbage out.

Also the version of HB you're using it unsupported.

No, you made a folder with the backup option. Make a MKV file of the title you want.

Other than the minor performance improvement you note, the Ice Lake changes are for VP9 and YUV formats that HB doesn't support.

Re: How to export encode configuration from GUI to CLI

Look them up yourself in the CLI docs.

The CLI makes way more sense than the GUI anyway. Not sure why anyone capable of using the CLI would want to try to set up anything in the GUI.

Re: Subtitles as an option with Plex?

Your selected output container (MP4) and provided subtitles (VOBSUB) are not compatible, per the MP4 spec.

You can switch to the MKV container, or you can find some text subs to add.

Re: All coverted films are called "STEREO" instead of right title

I hope that helps folks as a set of options on OSX until more light is shed upon all things DLNA and maybe options for handbrake users to disable this at the encode stage (if it doesn't break anything else of course) I don't want to imagine a HB interface with a checkbox to work around every broken...

Re: Subtitles as an option with Plex?

The general answer to your general question, is yes it can be done. Maybe this is impossible with handbrake or transcodeing. I don't know I am new. Just wandering if I am wasting my time with handbrake or if there is another program that can encode and allow subs to be turned on and off during playb...

Re: Subtitles as an option with Plex?

As this relates to a specific encode, post a support thread with the requisite details. Your latter question is incredibly subjective and personalized. The preset that most closely matches your intended playback environment and personal tradeoffs is the best recommendation we can give to such a vari...

Blend in VLC is certainly a simple option.

Depending on what you mean by some words, Discard, Bob, or even Mean could be what you're describing.
