Post your encoding log from an attempt at 1080p that you claim left it interlaced.

Speed, at the very least.

Re: Slow Hanbrake Performance

It's very likely you're picking different setttings than you did previously. Post your activity logs from "before" and now, and we'll be happy to point out the differences. For your purpose you are likely better off with the Production Handbrake presets, adjusted for your speed preference via encode...

The big black areas throw off the "constant" quality rate control a bit. Your file is a bit lower quality overall.

Re: Can't encode to >1080p

The default preset is 1080p. If you want higher, pick something higher.

The GUI is mostly angry spaghetti and anyone serious uses the CLI.

Re: Loosing audio tracks when adding multiple jobs to queue

You need to set the audio settings you want in the audio defaults, save it in a preset, then use that preset for your batch. Otherwise you're just editing the audio settings for a single encode.

If that doesn't work, you have to post the activity log for us to give any real help.

Re: video vs encoder quality; constant vs variable bitrate

Constant quality isn't constant across different speed presets. Pick the speed preset that matches your preference for encoding time, then find the RF that matches your preferences for quality/size. Constant bitrate is pants on head retarded; only necessary for certain crippled platforms. The variab...

Re: Same movie encoding, file 10% larger than before update

Given the changes in x265 over the last "years", they're almost certainly a bad idea if you've been using them that long. Much better off with the preset/tune system which are set up for the current version of x265.

Re: Same movie encoding, file 10% larger than before update

Thanks @Ritsuka and @mduell for your answers! If you want to compare the quality, you should check the ssim or encode two clips at the same bitrate and use your eyes. Be sure to tune for SSIM, so the psychovisual model is nerfed. I don't understand "nerfed" in this context. Do you mean, if I tune f...
