Re: TV Episodes: Best Encoding Practice
I used the Apple TV 2 preset as a starting point mainly as it seemed to produce a nice looking picture. I didn't need the dual audio conversion so kept it to one AC3 passthrough only. I cant remember what else I tweaked but I'm sure I fiddled based on reading up about it a few months back. For movie...

Re: TV Episodes: Best Encoding Practice
Thanks, that is comforting to know your file-size. Wondering now about some of my old DivX encodes from 4 years ago encoded at an average bitrate of 1800kbps versus High Profile H264 at quality 19.

TV Episodes: Best Encoding Practice
Been a long time user of HandBrake (back when it was a little known app by a crazy french guy!). A few years back, before the constant quality settings and H.264 was speedy enough I encoded a ton of my old DVD's to .avi. Now, for a summer project, and to save space I am pulling my DVD's out of the a...

Re: I can't get all of the chapters
I'm getting the opposite problem....far too many chapters?
One of the examples was using the default iPod Touch setting and letting HB do its thing on Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade (R2 Disc). There should be 36 Chapters total but HB seems to think there are 55?

Re: DVD Chapter Hosted Service
You're still reusing copyrighted cover art without permission. Rodney What are you Mr. Miserable lol?. Look how many sites there are that hold all sorts of cover art. You can pull it off of Amazon easy enough. There are even commercial applications that have that built in. But yes, this is still in...

Re: DVD Chapter Hosted Service
The issue here is copyright. It is illegal to rip or copy anything from a DVD. (*cough* suck it! *cough) However, perhaps this type of online service could be done if looked at from a different angle...albeit a more labour intensive one. Why not create a database of chapter names and times (includin...

British colloqualism whereby 'class' meant: 'haha straight to the point, didnt beat around the bush at all'. Although frustration levels do seem to be on the rise, there have been some fantastic (newbie?) bashes in the other forums. That MP4/Animation question the other day got some real heat up. No...

^^ class answer (seem the frustration level of the admins on the forum has gone up a notch around here again...always fun) Anyway... Why don't you just simply use the Flash Video encoder that comes with the Flash software for such purposes? And, you may have heard the new Flash player 9 now supports...

Why WMV, why not a universal format like a flash player playing .flv files? Also, you understand the legal aspects of this, and I assume you are doing this for and on your personal home videos only and not uploading clips of Harry Potter or The Terminator or something, and if you are then it shouldn...

Ok, you are using HandBrake on the backup copies you made of the movies? Now, to ask a stupid question, are you sure you labelled and or burned the right discs? I mean, if you play Disc 1 in your DVD player...it is the correct disc? Second thing to consider, are you sure you are selecting the right ...

Re: Quick help for new user
Hey, I just started using mactheripper and handbrake. Mactheripper works fine and so does handbrake but I was wondering how come the mp4 that is created does not have the intro scene where I can choose movie, chapters, extras...etc. Just looking for a quick answer, thank you. Because Handbrake outp...

Mucx, please please please do this. I can't wait to see a great hi-res, re-imagined icon. Thank you! I will get around to this, just busy with lots of design work at the moment. At work and other outside projects. I sort of understand the love for the current icon but in my opinion it needs and upd...

Ok well MTR no longer requires that you be conncected to the internet to use it and it no longer phones home and talks to the 'mother ship' anymore. Secondly, the way it works now is that you send your donation details off, they send you the application in a .zip file. You open the .zip, run the app...

Unfortunately, it is just one of those annoying things. HandBrake now and then does that to me on some of my discs. The only answer I have is to try and use another program like FFmpegX or my second choice of D-Vision. I could be wrong but I have heard whispers that HB will force the chapters to app...

The only 'problem' I encountered was just the initial scanning phase HB does on the disc when it is reading the titles...it was very slow on that part. (I had encoded from it not so long ago so I noticed) Everything else was perfct-a-mundo! Is that compared to scanning the previews from an mtr rip ...

Ok gave this a go when I got home on a Futurama DVD I had laying around. Here is how it went... Slid the disc in, launched Fairmount... Fairmount, spent 20 seconds mounting the disc (nice bagel effect)... Disc image replaces DVD Disc on my desktop... Opened HB and pointed it at the VIDEO_TS in disc ...

You know by my estimation...very roughly, MTR has made near on $10,000 so far this year. <snip> Pretty impressive for an OpenSource project. I agree with everything you've said here and in the Fairmount thread, but c'mon now.. Let's not sully the good name of Open Source Software by associating it ...

dynaflash you are a star! I am at work at the moment so couldn't check, this saves me a a few hours or so tonight. I was sat here during my break thinking how I could tell, using Fairmount, whether HandBrake was just doing the encoding or if it was encoding and removing the CSS at the same time. So ...
