You can overkill a DVD at RF 16. You can overkill a Blu Ray at RF 19. I use RF 17 for my 720p Bluray encodes. I use RF16 - 16.5 for my DVD rips. It is not overkill, clearly I require better quality than you. Maybe I have better eyesight or a bigger TV; I don't know. But I can say for sure that RF20...

Can anyone provide a succinct explanation of what it actually does? Thank you. On the first pass, it looks through the movie and makes note of the scenes that will need high bitrate and the scenes that can make do with low bitrate (and everything in between). It is essentially just a 'reconnaisance...

I have been having an audio problem with many of my videos. The source audio streams are 5.1 AC3 streams (mkv) and the output audio stream is MP3 (avi). The output videos have a terrible popping/crackling/distortion sound, any time there is a loud event (like an explosion or gunshot). I am guessing ...

Oh really? Thanks for the reply, I don't really know the technical side of who does what, I didnt realise it was something that needed to be implemented outside of the Handbrake project.
