Re: ATV Plays in Full Screen, iTunes only Widescreen!

Ok, the run is done and and the Activity Log is posted below. I used the default Apple TV preset for all I simply added each to the Q once the first one stated. It looks like the older stuff rolled off as I 14 items in the Q, although the log only has about 5 from what I can tell. All of the movies ...

Re: ATV Plays in Full Screen, iTunes only Widescreen!

We'd need to see full activity logs from one film that "works" and another that doesn't in order to offer any possible assistance here. Rodney Ok, I'll see if I can get them from the next movie conversions I have a bunch of stuff running in the queue right now. I'll have to RTFM to figure...

Re: ATV Plays in Full Screen, iTunes only Widescreen!

I just want to clarify - This is an old Trinitron 32" 4:3 CRT? And I assume you're also going from the composite outputs on the AppleTV into the TV? Yes that is essentially correct they are put through a AV receiver so I can have multiple sources for component input, the TV only has one compon...

Re: ATV Plays in Full Screen, iTunes only Widescreen!

I had to go to the TV's Menu and change the aspect ratio from normal TV (4:3 to 16:9). No luck here TV doesn't have a 16:9 setting and it doesn't explain why some movies display fine and others don't with the same encoding settings (ATV defaults). Still looking for a solution, but thanks for the su...

Re: Faster Mac same settings slower encode? Help!

However, I has just looking at the OP, and those x264 strings are very different, even if the double-pass options are included (I use CFR, I've never learned the intricacies of 2-pass encodes). Trellis and psy-trellis alone would slow down the encode noticeably, let alone 6 b-frames rather than 2! ...

Re: ATV Plays in Full Screen, iTunes only Widescreen!

TV is too old doesn't have any stretching abilities (old Trinitron 32"), what settings specifically on the ATV are you talking about? The TV has only one resolution... not sure what other settings would be involved. Still stumped. :(

ATV Plays in Full Screen, iTunes only Widescreen!

I have several movies that will only play in full screen via ATV even though they are, and play correctly (widescreen) in iTunes. All movies in iTunes have been created by Handbrake using the default ATV settings, yet some play widescreen and some don't. For example Red October plays fine widescreen...

Re: Faster Mac same settings slower encode? Help!

I am using the same settings (unless handbrake changes the default for Apple TV from a PPC machine to an Intel one). I'm also new to the game, however, I'm seeing the same results with moving from my 1st gen Mini to my 3rd gen, brand spankin' new Mini Core 2 Duo - 2Ghz, 4GB, NVIDIA 9400. Using the s...
