[Fixed] Linux GUI missrepresentation of edited jobs in que

Seems to be just a cosmetic bug but I couldn't find it in trac or the forums. Steps to reproduce: 1) Add movie to que for 2 pass encode (either Bitrate or Target Size will work) 2) Use the que's "edit" option to pull the job back to main the HandBrake window 3) Change from Target/Bitrate e...

discard deinterlace

I would think that even if HB or MF deinterlaced a TV show, it would look the same after VLC's blend deinterlacing. VLC would just ignore the lines that HB/MF created and make its own. Except that post when you set MediaFork to deinterlace while encoding it will discard half of the lines from the p...

Text based subtitles

As far as I know the Quicktime timed text format is no more difficult to parse than any of the other text-based subtitle formats. Unfortunately, changing how mediafork handles subtitles at the moment would require a good deal of work, and OCR is a very different process than video compression.

More accurate follow up details

You are correct, it does look like a quicktime preset somewhere is distorting the video. Both the dvd in question and the other one I have been testing with are 2.35:1 aspect, as you surmised. Interestingly, Quicktime is distorting it in exactly the same way as my dvd player, which had fooled me int...

Playback problems

Ok, I'm having some playback problems all around then. I've done test encodes with two different anamorphic DVD's and so far the only one I can get correct playback with is actually quicktime. VLC plays all clips, though sometimes crashes when I try and scan through them, and mplayer reliably plays ...

Anamorphic playback

I know that Quicktime, and thus iTunes and the other applications/devices powered by Quicktime, won't play files with the new Anamorphic encoding and that instead you need a recent version of mplayer or vlc. But I don't think I've seen anywhere, just how recent your version needs to be. Are these la...

Window on top

I've had the same issue with handbrake a number of times in the past.

I saw it with an 0.8.0 svn branch checkout earlier today but have not seen it so far with the beta1(Mac) package.

For what it is worth, when I saw it earlier today I am sure I did not have handbrake open.

Are there plans to build any sort of user documentation, or is this on hold for the non-beta days?

Re: Legal Changes

What I mean when I say the legal issues make me feel uncomfortable, is this: Our code definitely has changed, but as the over-arching structure remains the same, how do we honor and credit titer for that key task, while making clear to users that this fork is unauthorized and minor changes have bee...

Re: Legal Changes

well, you want to leave titer in AUTHORS because he still has substantial (in this case a majority) of code in the project. The same is true for any files where he was the last one to make changes. The goal is simply to accurately reflect who the authors are. As far as the GPL goes, I think jbrjake ...

Legal Changes

I guess that brings another thing up though...do we have to do anything about the legal section, AUTHOR file, copyright, etc? That stuff all makes me uncomfortable. (/IANAL) Well you're keeping the license intact so there's no need to change the COPYING file, but you should certainly be added to th...

Subtitle types

From what I've seen, SSA and ASS http://www.matroska.org/technical/specs/subtitles/ssa.html are what the high production value fan subbers are using, generally in conjunction with a mkv container. They're very flexible with a small size but are text based so they require someone to OCR the vobsubs f...
