Re: Average video bitrate isn't changing for XviD's

I know 5000k is a lot, I was just using that value to test to see if the rate was really changing.

Anyone?

Average video bitrate isn't changing for XviD's

Ok, I feel like a sped here because I almost feel like I'm forgetting to do something. However, when encoding a DVD to XviD in the AVI container, the video bitrate never changes no matter what I set the average bitrate to. I've been setting the average bitrate of the video to 5000k however QuickTime...

Re: xbox 360 cropping/anamorphic(?) problem

The issues you describe with the MP4 files I have not seen. As for XviD, it does seem to take up some crazy resources on the Xbox. If I try to fast-forward an XviD video it usually freezes for some unknown reason. What were the settings you've used to create the MP4 files? When I did mine, I used ju...

Re: which profile for XBOX 360 and PS3?

The only options that works with the Xbox are MP4/AAC or H.264/AAC. I just tried every combination that HandBrake offers and those were the only two that would stream from the Xbox dashboard.

Hope that helps.

Excellent. Thanks for the info and I appreciate everyone's feedback! Hopefully someone else will find this thread as helpful. Thanks again.

Re: Encoding with AC3 5.1 passthru yields AC3 2.0

Or, in "Movie Properties" you can click on the Audio Settings tab below the list of tracks at the top, then click on the "Surround" track. In that Audio Settings tab at the bottom, it will show you there are six channels available (5.1 soundtrack). Do not worry about the listed ...

I definitely noticed this as well, however I selected AC3 pass through before ripping. I must have foobar'ed something up. I'll try encoding it again and repost my results.

Encoding with AC3 5.1 passthru yields AC3 2.0

I'm currently running on an Intel-based Mac under Leopard 10.5.2 using the GUI version of Handbrake. When I encode a video that is set for AC3 (5.1) passthru, Quicktime is reporting the audio as AC3 L R (2.0). I haven't been able to test the video on the receiver to see if it really is 5.1 but not m...

only way to know is to try. like i said, fingers crossed as this would allow me to do exactly what i intended with my DVD collection, Handbrake and my Apple TV. I know this is waaayy after the fact, but last week I ripped an mp4 via Handbrake, used MTR to pull the AC3 from the DVD, deleted the audi...

Re: AC3 using multiple tools

The THX demo I uploaded works on factory setup of Apple TV, you just need a receiver connected via optical, that will decode dolby digital CDs. Ok, I finally got the DDWAV thing working. I love the fact that it is Dolby Digital but I don't love the fact that the file size is almost 3x the size of t...

Re: AC3 using multiple tools

The THX demo I uploaded works on factory setup of Apple TV, you just need a receiver connected via optical, that will decode dolby digital CDs. Right on. I started experimenting to figure out what caused the problem. Turns out ATVFiles does *something* to hose the DDWAV output. I don't know how or ...

Re: AC3 using multiple tools

Ok, so I tired the THX demo and it worked great after I installed the A52codec, Perian, as well as the ssh stuff. But then I added the ATVFiles and now when I play it all I hear is static... I obviously did something wrong but can't seem to backtrack enough to find where it was. Anyone have any sug...

I downloaded the source again from SVN last night and did what you said and that worked. I'm not sure what my problem was before but this works.

Thanks.

Just use make...or is there something you're trying to do with the code that makes that not a viable option? Someone's gotta rewrite that BUILD file to put the make method at the top instead of the bottom...though maybe I just volunteered for that =) I did use make, but within mediafork_20070415/co...

OS X libmp4av.dylib build issues from 4/15 SVN co

Let me put a disclaimer out there: I've searched high and low to try to find an answer to this without any luck... I'm also a Linux developer with a tiny bit of OS X development experience. I successfully built an svn co on 4/15 in Ubuntu 7.04 (beta version) with all of the latest packages installed...

Oh well, I dont take it personally, I just find it ridiculous for people to get frustrated by a single question. As I said before, nobody had to answer. Someone could just point me at the url which truly I havent seen before (my bad). Anyway, lets forget it If you are a true developer (i.e. one tha...
