Re: Selecting H.265

Is there a generic activity log posted somewhere for merely starting the program and having a question about the GUI layout that, by design, does not include starting an encode?

Re: Multiple video streams + combining two dvds

I'm pretty sure that you could do the same thing with mkvmerge... you would have to encode each camera angle into a separate mkv file with HandBrake, then using add (instead of append as above), combine the files, keeping all of the video and audio streams from both files that you want to keep in th...

Re: Multiple video streams + combining two dvds

Number 1 is not trivial or easily automated, but also not difficult to do if you're encoding to mkv. I've done this successfully for my copies of "Das Boot" and "Schindler's List". The process requires the use of mkvmerge. 1. Encode each video to be merged with Handbrake with chapter markers. 2. In ...

nl-means enabled build?

Oh great ones,

Any idea how far out we may be from a lingui build with nl-means included as an option? Quite intrigued to play around with this one, in fact, my queue is on hold for it!

Thanks!

github repository not up to date...

Devs, Haven't been able to find a mention anywhere else, so not sure if any of you are aware, but there haven't been any updates on the github mirror in several days unless I am doing something wrong. I just did a git pull and it says that I am up to date, and going through the timeline, I've narrow...

TrueHD Passthru (and ? about current options to remux mp4)

So, all I want for Christmas is TrueHD passthrough, it's about the only truly common audio source we can't yet pass through. That being said, I know it's been mentioned a couple of times and it'll be gotten around to when it's gotten around to. :) So I'd like to ask the question of those around here...

Re: [Rejected] video passthrough

eac3to, vob2mpg, there are a lot of tools, both cli and gui, to extract the audio stream. putting the new stream back in after you convert it should be easy with mkvmerge for mkv or mp4tools for mp4 if you're just looking to put in a basic ac3 stream after you've converted your audio. Take a look at...

Fedora 12 x64 hang introduced in build 3240

Scanning of any DVD with dvdnav seems to have stopped working as of build 3240 and all builds after up to present (3242). 3239 works fine. Fedora 12, x64. I appear to have all functionality that you would have while a scan is taking place, but the scan never completes, and clicking "Stop Scan" has n...

Re: Distributed encoding w/ several machines ?

I might add, it's also going to be low priority because of the low return for 99% of users for the effort required to achieve it. It comes down to serial vs. parallel. If you have only one video to encode, what you propose would be very valuable. But very few people have only one video to encode. Mo...

Command to be executed on completion

A lot of us poor folks (read: me) with slightly less than the latest 24-48 core systems often find that our encodes take a long time to complete. In fact right now my laptop is running a queue which I don't expect to *fully* complete until sometime next week. It would be handy, especially in linux g...

Re: Is there a way to convert DTS 5.1 to AC3 5.1?

My playback setup only supports AC3 to get 5.1, but on DVD's that *have* a DTS track, I like to use it to get the highest bitrate AC3 possible, so I encode with DTS passthru, then pull out the .dts track with mkvextract, convert it to 640kbps AC3 with eac3to, then replace the DTS track in the encode...

Re: Necessary feedback on the forums (Got a gripe? Keep it here)

If I gather his intent correctly, TedC does have a point. Older versions are not supported, so the only point to being here is to look for solutions with 0.9.4 or newer. However, most of the information you get with a search, which is supposed to be the first thing you do, is going to be information...

Re: 0.9.4 Xbox 360 Settings *TESTED*

At the moment the only way to get 5.1 is to install MKV for Windows 7 from divxlabs.com and stream in MKV format to the xbox360 with pass-thru AC3 from Windows Media Center on a Windows 7 box. Works great though.

Re: svn 3022, Fedora 12, 64-bit -- Memory leak?

Hmmm.... no, it's the whole thing, but I may know why. Ran the massif overnight and it didn't create a file. I'm guessing I need to stop it before the process is killed by the kernel for taking up all of the memory on the box? Perhaps the log on the leak-check=full got cut short for the same reason?...

Re: svn 3022, Fedora 12, 64-bit -- Memory leak?

Just posted to pastebin the results of valgrind --leak-check=full for build 3007. http://handbrake.fr/pastebin/pastebin.php?show=1066 Interesting to note, although the encode took place at about half speed, the memory leak happened just as quickly (in minutes and seconds) as before, leading to the p...

Okay, tried a movie tonight... don't have any of the ones you mentioned so I tried out Catch Me If You Can on a fresh checkout of build 3007 (after having several of my Medium episodes encode perfectly well last night and today while I was at work on build 3006). Log Verbosity is set to 2 this time....

I am curious if you are seeing the same crash that I am on all builds from 3007 forward:
http://forum.handbrake.fr/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=13763

On the linux box do you see anything in /var/log/messages indicating ghb being killed because memory is used up?

Apologies if unrelated.

Re: svn 3022, Fedora 12, 64-bit -- Memory leak?

The laptop I encode on has two cores... based on some testing I did ages ago my x264 string specifies threads=3. Could this be a problem? Used to be that 1.5*cores was the default anyways, but any chance that has changed and could cause problems with threads>cores? I should probably pull that out of...

Re: svn 3022, Fedora 12, 64-bit -- Memory leak?

Okay, up to build 3006, memory usage of the ghb process hovers around ~140-150MB. Starting with build 3007 on, memory usage takes off until it's all gone. I tried a fresh checkout of both 3006 and 3007, 3006 works, 3007 does not. Any ideas? Is this happening to anyone else, and more importantly can ...
