Black screen at beginning stripped -> out of sync audio?
hi, I'm having a really strange issue with handbrake currently. I tried to convert an .avi file (xvid, ac3). It works, but when watching the created file (.mp4, h264, ac3) I noticed that the audio was out of sync with the video. I looked at the source and the created video and noticed, that the sour...

Re: What is the absolute BEST quality encode?
well, if you want the absolute best quality simply rip the DVD 1:1 (HB can't do that, but other apps can). this will give you a 5-7GB folder which simply is the original DVD. you can create an image-file from that folder to get a single large file. of course, the whole point of compressing a video i...

Re: Don't start at 00:00?
sorry, running windows 7 beta right now but I have a mac here if needed.
for some strange reason, avidemux can't open my files.
anyway, I think I'm trying to cut the VOBs now - I think there are some tools out there to cut VOBs so maybe that'll work

Don't start at 00:00?
hi guys, I wanted to know if it is somehow possible to NOT start at the very beginning of a movie, but rather tell handbrake to start at a specific frame or (better yet) time? So I simply want to drop the beginning of the movie. As far as I know the GUI does not support this, but maybe here is a CLI...

Re: Corrupted files when using AC3?
happens with any container.
funny thing is, I tried it again about a week later and everything is working perfectly now - on both my mac and my PC. what's up with that?

Re: Corrupted files when using AC3?
so I finally figured it out: When I add 2 AC3 streams to the video, it seems the video is decoded as "MLP", which vlc does not support yet (only the v1.0 nightly builds do). So I could just get me VLC 1.0 but I was wondering: a) why handbrake uses MLP when adding more than one ac3 stream a...

Re: WinGUI unexpected behaviours (several)
Small bug. None was only meant to be displayed for tracks 2 3 and 4, not 1. The WinGUI has never supported having no audio. may I ask why not? since the mac gui handles that perfectly ... . It's not a big deal for me, I just use the CLI directly from now on, but it would be nice if the GUI would su...

Re: WinGUI unexpected behaviours (several)
Got another one ... 5) When you select "none" as the first audio stream the GUI doesn't seem to recognize that. The bitrate etc. fields are not disabled (as they are on the mac) and the audiostream is still added to the video. Even loading presets with -a none will not cause the video to h...

Re: DVD Disc Name to Title Name Database
well, I mean you could just query an imdb search for the name and take the first result imdb gives you (which is likely to be the correct one I guess) ... but as someone said before, a lot of movies just have some weird title so you're gonna run into problems with those ..

Re: DVD to H264 at full quality with handbrake?
I think something strange is going on: I encoded the same movie with a lot of different settings in handbrake over the last week, and no matter what I select, I always get the same results as long as I choose options that give me roughly the same filesize in the end. So as long as I'm going with aro...

Re: DVD to H264 at full quality with handbrake?
hi, I wanted to create a new thread but I guess my post fits into this one really well: Like a lot of people here I want to digitalize my dvd collection. So, if I undestood it right, it's best to use the film preset and switch to CQ .62? Correct me if I'm wrong here. I'm wondering about a few other ...

Re: Mac vs Windows encoding quality in Handbrake.
I noticed that the output Mac OS produces is a little smaller (like 10MB on a 1.5GB movie), but I didn't notice any difference in quality at all.

Create video without audio impossible?
hi guys, I was wondering if it is possible to create a video without(!) audio on windows? Because every time I select "None" as the first audio stream the audiostream is still included in the video file (in handbrake, when I select "none" as first audio, it's still giving me the ...

Corrupted files when using AC3?
hi, I recently discovered HandBrake and from the results I got until now, it's really great. I have a problem though that's really annoying: I discovered that some of my videos won't play in any video player besides quicktime on my mac (so it won't play in windows media player, vlc on pc or mac etc....
