Re: SRT not in sync

It works!

Have to offset it by 15 seconds (=15000Ms) to make it work.
I just love Handbrake!

Re: SRT not in sync

I will give that a try. I did not realize that the offset was in milliseconds and assumed it was in seconds.

No wonder there was hardly any difference between my two test versions ;-)

I will give it another try tonight.
Thank you TedJ

SRT not in sync

Yesterday I downloaded the latest Snapshot release based on the SVN2773 and it is fantastic on how Handbrake keeps evolving and is getting better with every build. Keep it up! As I noticed that Handbrake included SRT support in MP4 and as I’m new to that I was hoping that someone could help me to un...

Re: video material for benchmarking & testing

Hi KonaBlend,

I have downloaded the 5 rar files but during expanding I get an error "Please locate the file named LEARNINGTOFLYpart1.r00."
There seems to be no such file. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong.

Thank you for setting this up!

Re: Early 2009 MacPro Octo 2 x 2.26Ghz (Nehalem)

I do not think my machine is faster than certain other Mac Pro’s from previous generations. I can imagine that there are numerous factors that will influence encoding time/speed that are not necessarily hardware related. The previous test was done on the Region 1 version of Quantum of Solace that I ...

Re: Early 2009 MacPro Octo 2 x 2.26Ghz (Nehalem)

Hi jbrjake, I will give it a shot. Although I managed to build this version it took me some time to realize the YASM thing in order to compile. However reading the instructions worked for me. As can read I'm a bit of a noob in compiling Handbrake and I will go through the documentation on how to com...

Re: Universal preset vs iPod Nano 4G

Based on the comment by JPS I converted an NTSC Region 1 film (Closer) and used the Universal preset. Although it has a different resolution than the Sex And The City film from a couple of days ago it syncs and plays fine to the 4G iPod. The Quicktime Inspector says: Title: Closer.mv4 Format: JVT/AV...

Universal preset vs iPod Nano 4G

Let me start by saying that I appreciate all the work and efforts put into handbrake. 0.93 is prefect for most of my conversions and I simply love it! I do however seem to run into problems with the Universal preset and the new iPod Nano 4G i bought for my wife. Long story short the movies converted...

Re: HandBrake Development Snapshot Builds

Congratulations with the first Handbrake snapshot build! It looks great and I can appreciate the aesthetic changes. Re: Question on how best to use new 5.1 AC3 capability in 0.9.2

As mentioned by Jbrjake having AC3 pass-through in all its 5.1 glory on a Mac can indeed by done for quite some time by using Perian and the a52codec plist editing instructions from GBooker and takes a minute or so. In my opinion (and to my own frustration) it is exactly what Rhester mentions. In or...

Re: Mac Pro Penryn 8 core 2.8 Ghz 2 GB Ram

I have chosen to use the Deux Six Quarte @ 3000 Kbps since personally I prefer the result. On darker and grayish areas I really started noticing bigger blocked areas that became less distracting if I increased the bitrate. Therefore I decided to use the Deux Six Quatre setting @ 3000Kbps and of cour...

Re: Mac Pro Penryn 8 core 2.8 Ghz 2 GB Ram

Out of curiosity could you try to a clip at the Deux Six Quatre setting @ 3000kbps?

It is the setting I personally use and I’m wondering how this beast deals with it.

Thanks!

I am experiencing the same problem with mkv files on Leopard that contain AC3 and require Perian. Files are created on various machines (Intel Mac Mini, G5 2.7Ghz & MBP C2D 2,33ghz) and show the same behaviour. The files won’t open when running Leopard; in Tiger they run just fine. Once saved as...

I would suggest that you do the x264 within the MP4 track rather than the AVI track (just use AVI to give you the AC3 data). This was my initial idea as well, but I kept having problems that the image and sound were out of sync. I have not yet worked out on how to solve this. Perhaps future Matrosk...

I actually create 2 files. The first as mentioned in my original post is an .AVI file that contains a passthrough AC3 track. Since the AVI file is not able to contain any chapter information and anamorphic I create a “quick rip” MP4 anamorphic file with chapter information. I called it a “quick rip”...

GBooker, you are correct. I was talking about the passthrough of AC3 in QuickTime in a .mov container with the Perian plug-in installed. I'm able to play/passthrough .mov files that inlcude AC3 (5.1) tracks. My AV-receiver switches to Dolby Digital 5.1 as soon as the signal kicks in (just like with ...

Hi gbooker! Thank you for your reaction and my apologies for any mistaken information in my posts. I must have mistakenly confused MP4 and MOV when it comes to AC3. Sorry for that. I was still under the impression QuickTime was not able output 5.1 AC3 tracks correctly with the latest Perian plugin i...

Hi Ritsuka, If you open an avi or mkv in QuickTime and you have the a52codec passthrough hack (that show the audio as a pcm stereo track), and then save it as mov, the hack will remain. This is actually what suprised me since I remember reading on either the Handbrake forum or the Perian Forum that ...

Hi Golias, I'm just as stunned and still can’t believe it. As you say it is not mentioned anywhere but it is still able to output 5.1 sound. Anomaly? I played a .Mov with a 5.1 AC3 sountrack in QT

Just experienced the weirdest thing, AC3 5.1 surround from a .mov! The file(s) are originally created with Handbrake (AVI (anamorphic) with AC3. Since anamorphic doesn’t work in a AVI I saved it as a QuickTime file to display it in the correct proportions. This did not use to work, see my previous p...
