Re: Are my encoding files to large?
I just encoded saving private ryan at RF 23 and it ended up being 13.3 gigs. That's about 1/2 the compression of my original blu ray disc. The biggest I've had before that was minority report (8 gigs) but the source file size was like 46gb so it was a pretty good ratio still. ### CLI Query: -i "...

Re: HOWTO:Blu-ray "Forced" Subtitles-Avatar, District 9, etc
Why not use MakeMKV and select "Forced Subtitles Only" during the rip. That way the video, audio, and forced subtitles are ready to go in the mkv container. Then you just extract your subs, change them to idx and mux 'em back. It's simpler and the only snag is that it does not convert DTS ...

Re: CLI.exe has stopped working
I get the same issues with 3154. It doesn't happen on all my BDs though. The log from the encode will simply stop where it is at. Here is an example: ### CLI Query: -i "G:\Blu-Ray\The Longest Day.mkv" -t 1 -c 1-40 -o "G:\Handbrake\The Longest Day-1.mkv" -f mkv -w 1920 -l 816 --cr...

Re: How do I set strict Pyramidal B-Frames in the option string?
Or is it neither? I just want to know if I use the max amount of ref frames (say 4 for a 1920x1080 movie), will adding b-pyramid change that (the ref #) in some way? For example will it break level 4.1 compatibility? My videos with normal b-pyramid show no change but the ones with b-pyramid strict h...

Re: How do I set strict Pyramidal B-Frames in the option string?
So is the b-pyramid=strict reducing the reference frames by one or is the b-pyramid=normal technically adding an "invisible" reference frame?

Re: How do I set strict Pyramidal B-Frames in the option string?
What is the deal with b-pyramid? I have been searching and searching for an explanation to my observation that when using b-pyramid=strict it decreases the ref frame count by one (at least as mediainfo sees it). Here is an example: Test 1 (B Pyramid checked) Complete name : C:\Users\plaza\Desktop\So...

Re: Can you guys fix the chapter naming?
Thanks for the swift reply. If your not experiencing it then it must be MakeMKV. I noticed that Handbrake imports chapter titles from mkv (an awesome feature I might add) so it is probably just importing the awkwardly named chapter titles that MakeMKV creates. I'll pose the question on their forum. ...

Can you guys fix the chapter naming?
Hi. I've noticed that whenever I add a source to handbrake for encoding, the chapters that it detects are named Chapter 00, Chapter 01, Chapter 02 and so forth. Is there anyway you could have them named Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3 etc.? This way I don't have to rename every chapter for the blu r...

Re: Help me understand audio encoding?
Can we ever look forward to the DPL2 being fixed to offer 5.1? I remember reading that DPL2 is supposed to be 5.1 but the sub channel doesn't work unless its done by the official dolby software or something. Is there a chance this problem will ever be overcome?

(0.9.3) ABR much lower than specified.
Hello. I have noticed on many of my ABR rips that the average bitrate is much lower than specified. I would tell it to use an ABR of 1500 and the video would have one of 1100. I have to bump the ABR to 1900 to get close to 1500 on many of my movies. Here is the log of an example: ### CLI Query: -i &...

Re: (0.9.3) GUI glitch with Chapters while processing Queue
I have noticed a glitch similar to this. If I queue up multiple or even just 2 movies in which I have made custom chapter names, the chapter titles will be messed up on all of the encodes. If I edit the chapter titles and encode a movie by itself, it works fine. But when 2 or more are queued, it see...
