Re: Clarification on Audio settings

Right, AnyDVD HD does on-the-fly decryption, so I just pop the disk into the drive, let AnyDVD do its thing, and then run ClownBD to extract. I don't know if it takes more or less time than MakeMKV, but I know I had problems with some files created by MakeMKV when it was in beta. They just wouldn't ...

Re: Clarification on Audio settings

mduell, you can do the same thing with programs like ClownBD (essentially a free GUI for eac3to). It easily handles branched disks to create one file. My process is (all on windows): 1) ClownBD to select only the main movie with only the audio/subtitle tracks I want (plus chapters and video, of cour...

Re: Unencrypted Bluray support

Still having issues with the disk in that last log I posted. No matter what I try, I can't get HB to read through to the point where I can select the various titles for the episodes. Interestingly, when I use the Title Specific Scan, it opens each one right up. Just ran a test encode on a couple cha...

Re: Unencrypted Bluray support

Here's another example. Same pop-up message that says No Title(s) found. Your Source may be copy protected, badly mastered or in a format which HandBrake does not support. Please refer to the Documentation and FAQ (see Help Menu). (it's not encrypted, I used AnyDVD to rip to hard disk). Hope this he...

Re: Unencrypted Bluray support

Sure can. I'll keep playing with various Bluray sources to see if I come across anything else like that. The scan log for the failed scan looked exactly like the one I posted above, with the exception that it just ended after "Scanning title 12 of 16". There was nothing else in the log aft...

Re: Unencrypted Bluray support

Odd, the first try with your update failed after title 12 (of 16), saying there were no valid titles. Tried again without changing anything, and it worked. Not sure why, but damn, y'all are good!

Re: Unencrypted Bluray support

Let me start by saying, I'm really excited by this development, it reduces the number of steps for getting BD to my ATV. However, I cannot for the life of me get it to work. The disk was ripped using AnyDVD, and saved as a folder (retaining the BD folder structure, sans protection) on my hard drive....

Re: Advanced Bluray/HDDVD Workflow & Features Discussion

On to the subject of Chapters: After ClownBD processes all of this into a MT2S file what's left, chapter-wise is a txt file with the chapter stop points. that's fine. I'm not sure if clownBD puts the chapters in the MT2S file or Handbrake doesn't recognize it...be that as it may. How can i get at l...

Re: Getting HandBrake encodes to work on a TiVo

Conclusion: 1-pass x264 encoding causes jerkiness with native TiVo playback. Admittedly, this conclusion has been tested with just a single DVD, "Cider House Rules." I can't be sure the same thing would happen with other DVDs. But I am posting this in case it might help others who want to...

Re: Subtitles and .mkv?

I'm not sure if it's available for Mac, but you should try something like MKVextractGUI. The process you are going through is not extracting the subtitles, it is re-muxing them into another MKV file. You need to use the extract commands to get them out of the MKV. One thing I have found is that some...

Re: Blu-Ray to AppleTV - Help/Tutorial/Rant

I've been converting BDs for my AppleTV for a while now, and I think you're making this more complicated that it needs to be. First of all, there is a wonderful thread here already on BD/HD-DVD workflow http://forum.handbrake.fr/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=9258 . Second, the use of MakeMKV after you ha...

[08:44:35] + frame rate: same as source (around 59.940 fps) That's your problem right there. ATV is limited to 30fps (probably the iPhone 3GS too). You will need to set your framerate to 29.97 instead of "same as source". Actually it's a bit more complicated than that (his source isn't re...

Re: Blu-Ray to iPhone

Is this a Bluray of TV episodes? If not, MakeMKV should have gotten you one large MKV that is the main movie. The other, small files are probably things you don't need. Can you play the files with VLC and see what they are? Again, you should have one really big file (15GB or more) that is the main m...

Re: Advanced Bluray/HDDVD Workflow & Features Discussion

Yes, ClownBD does let you select the correct title. One tip for doing that though is that it defaults to the longest title, and lists the titles in decending order based on length, so don't assume the first one listed by ClownBD is the first episode! Other than having to remember which one you rippe...

Re: BSOD on Windows 7 appears to tied to Handbrake encoding

I almost hate posting this but, just to back up what s55 said...I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, running the latest SVN version, and have had absolutely no issues at all. In fact, it runs so well, my wife now believes I'm addicted to Handbrake. Is there an intervention group I can join? :o...

Re: AppleTV Issues: Video Format Not Recognized

It could also be frame rate. What does quicktime tell you the fps of the encoded file is? sometimes with 9.3, I would have DVDs that ended up as a video that quicktime thought had an fps above 30, sometimes even over 40. Those will likely never play on the apple tv. If you find that quicktime is tel...

Re: Audio sync issues from Bluray MKV

One thought, you may need to specify the video FPS when you mux the MKV file. I have had problems when I forget to do that, because MKVToolnix assumes it is 25fps if you don't specify otherwise. My usual process for Blu-ray is to use eac3to to extract raw video, get AC3 audio, chapters and subtitles...

Not sure if you want more examples, but here is an HDTV (clear QAM) capture. Both done with SVN 2764. Only changes from default Universal preset were to turn on decomb (default) and force fps to 29.97 (source was 59.94). I can post full logs for both encodes if you want them. :) Amazing, MBtree is a...

Re: Run CRF to find best Average Bitrate

The iPod preset is capped at 700 Kbps, and the iPod Legacy preset is capped at 1500 Kbps. Note that 2500 Kbps is the maximum bitrate for MPEG-4 Part 2 (what Apple calls "MPEG-4 video") on an iPod. The maximum bitrate for H.264 is 1500 Kbps. Some newer iPod models can playback video that e...

I wasn't sure whether to put this in the "bugs" forum or not, because it isn't really a big deal.... I have run the snapshot posted in the forums, and also now running svn2658, and in both I have selected "Start window minimized" on the CLI tab of the Options, and the "Enabl...

Re: Apple TV transfer

This will sound stupid, but try changing the file extension to .m4v instead of .mp4 Don't ask me why, but sometimes just doing that when the file has both aac and ac3 in it works for me for transfer to the AppleTV. If that doesn't do it, I supposed an expert here may see something I don't in the log.

Well, it's distinctly possible that I'm just a fringe case, with something borked on my computer.

Thanks for looking at it anyway. It's not really THAT difficult to take the created preview and manually open it in QT if I really want to.
