Re: Handbrake keeps crashing - Linux

Going back to the stable releases ppa fixed this crashing for me. The latest 10.1 release is dated 2015-03-08 so you won't be losing any features.

Re: Toy Story 2 BR rip won't open

Yes on second thoughts subtitles make more sense, especially as the default behaviour of makemkv is to pack all sub tracks into the file unless it's set up not to.

Re: Toy Story 2 BR rip won't open

Probably too many audio streams for ffmpeg to handle.

Code: Select all

matroska,webm @ 0x102106c00] Too many streams
Open mkv in MkvmergeGUI deselect audio tracks you don't need and remux to a new file. Then feed the new file into Handbrake.

@ Nephillmator

Give this thread a read. http://forum.handbrake.fr/viewtopic.php ... s+subtitle

You need to get the Video, Audio and IDX/SUB streams into an mkv using mkvmerge and feed that into HandBrake which should recognise the Vobsubs and give you a burn in option.

Re: Settings for Zune HD

Blargh, I don't understand what that means. Basically you think I'd be better off using Apple Universal?
Yes, that's what I meant, as any transcoding will result in a drop in quality.

Re: Settings for Zune HD

I also tried using the 'High Profile' setting instead of the 'Apple Universal' one. Not sure if it makes any difference. This is just conjecture as I don't own the device, but looking at the specifications on this page http://www.zune.net/en-us/products/zunehd/zunehd16/techspecs.htm (specifically t...

Cut nothing out, post the entire log on a pastebin site, such as pastebin.com and include the url in your next post in this thread.

Re: Video plays fine on computer but out of sync on PS3

I see from your log, that there is lots of the following going on: [20:46:08] 27.394022s: Film -> Video [20:46:08] 27.477433s: Video -> Film Which indicates lots of changes of frame rate in your source. Perhaps your PS3 is struggling with the resultant variable frame rate mp4 file. I would try an en...

Yes. I use an external hard drive where I keep all my vob files and save my mp4 to. -i "F:\Movies\Hotel For Dogs" -t 1 -c 1-16 -o "E:\Iphone Movies\Hotel For Dogs-1.m4v" Input & output on two different partitions. Try copying a file to this folder E:\Iphone Movies to make su...

Re: BD encode taking far too long

3 to 5 fps on a 110 minute 24fps movie is roughly equal to 9 to 14 hrs encode time not 64 hours. You should upgrade to the nightly build, it's more accurate in estimating encoding time remaining. The one thing you can do to reduce encode time drastically is reduce the resolution to 720p. Try a test ...

Re: Old Fart needs new brain !

Bling2Ming, Will your advice yield an exact copy of the video and audio tracks in the quality they are on the DVD? If not, what do I do to get the screen resolution and audio formats that are on the disk. I am only in need of the best 5.1 soundtrack for my HT and one that will play on my PC. As Han...

Video - Mpeg4
[ ] Audio - DTS-HD Losless
....[ ] Audio - DTS 3/2+1

Do I check both of those boxes or just the latter?

Just leave the last one (DTS 3/2+1) checked. It's the lossless track that causes the problems.

Re: Old Fart needs new brain !

If you are saying that fwd/rew skip are unavailable when playing back on the WD TV media player, it's because the High Profile preset defaults to the M4V file extension, simply rename the file extension to a MP4 and these functions should then be available. Better yet, the next time you try to encod...

Re: SVN3697 Crash

I think HandBrake is choking on decoding of the DTS lossless audio track. Try ripping again with makemkv leaving out the dts lossless audio. Stream #0.1(eng): Audio: dca, 48000 Hz, 5.1, s16, 1536 kb/s Metadata: title : Losless [19:16:30] reader: first SCR 0 id 1 DTS 0 Stream with high frequencies VQ...

Looks to me to be interlaced VC1 video. Ffmpeg and by extension HandBrake cannot yet decode this properly.

There is a thread about problems with this format on the Makemkv forum http://www.makemkv.com/forum2/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1096

Open mkv in mkvmergeGUI untick the tracks that aren't required and click the Start Muxing button.

Re: AC3 passthru is picked up as AAC

I don't know about the WDTV live but my original WDTV will not see the AC3 track in an MP4.
This is the main reason I encode to MKV when targeting the device.

I agree with the previous posters, a proper encode log is now a must.

Re: I only get audio - no video

I can confirm what Tedj says, as i have successfully ripped Sherlock Holmes with Makemkv, It created a 20GB mkv file in about 40 minutes on my machine. I then fed that 20GB 1080p VC1 mkv back into HB to create a 3GB 720p H264 mkv for use on my laptop. This all worked perfectly with no issues whatsoe...

Yes that's correct I use 100 for the Y value as a fudge so I don't have to work out both X and Y it helps me if I'm dealing with a variety of different source material.

Re: Adding anamorphic details back after they have been lost

Yes the command line tool MP4Box can indeed add the correct PAR back to an MP4/M4V file without the need for re-encoding. The syntax is : MP4Box -par 1=X:Y YourVideo.mp4 The 1 is the track number of the video track we assume its 1. X = ((desired display aspect * pixel height) / pixel width) * 100 Y ...

[Fixed] Win - minor bug with new weighted P frames check box

I know it's a minor bug but thought I'd mention it. The new Weighted P check box in the nightly (3389) seems to be behaving strangely. 1. Select a the Normal or High Profile preset and the check box is checked with no mention of weightp in advanced string text box. (Default is weightp=1 so this is O...
