Re: Blank Video in Front Row
Frontrow well known bug... unless Appel correct it, go buy an Apple TV... I see. I have an Apple TV, and it works perfectly. I was just wondering what my solutions were. Manually editing in Subler isn't a big deal. But then subtitles can't be displayed in Quicktime X. I was wondering what people ha...

Blank Video in Front Row
Using Snow Leopard 10.6.3 Handbrake 0.9.4 64-Bit (along with VLC 64-bit) My encodes play perfectly on every device and every program. Unless I add closed captions to the encode and then Front Row refuses to play them. So I was curious, if anyone else has had this problem. I can open up the video in ...

Re: Most complex settings to be used across iPod Touch & ATV
Yeah. You may be able to figure out how to fix front row on google. There was nothing on google about it. But I started messing around with settings and the files. And it wasn't too hard to come up with the problem. Front Row was/is playing the subtitle (closed captions) track that was encoded alon...

Re: Most complex settings to be used across iPod Touch & ATV
I'm not sure why it would not work in Front Row. You may want to look here -> http://forum.handbrake.fr/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=12204&start=50 it should give you some idea of what to use. I believe my Front Row is very very corrupt. That's the only explanation. If I use settings from the post y...

Re: Blank video in Front Row [SVN2845]
Front Row is a super buggy app. and after 2 years it can display a argb video track (for example a subtitlte track). Maybe they'll fix it before 2020. Here's hoping! Cheers. ;P But really, I'm gonna try to get to the bottom of this. I'm starting to really hate Front Row, but I can't deny the conven...

Re: AppleTV Preset, or stick with Universal
& now I've added, trellis=1,ref=3. The Apple TV seems fine with it, but I'm unsure as of right now whether the iPhone 3G S/iPod Touch 3G will be okay with that. Gonna try to dig through some threads to find out ^_^. Update: After looking through the threads, trellis=1 should be perfect, & I ...

Blank video in Front Row [SVN2845]
Using the new Snapshot SVN2845 64-Bit on Snow Leopard (Perian Installed). Some of my new encodes have not been playing in Front Row. Well, the audio plays fine, but no matter what, the video is blank. But these same videos play in everything else just fine (QT, QTX, VLC, Apple TV). Odd, since I was ...

Re: AppleTV Preset, or stick with Universal
I don't really encode many HD sources so I think I'll be good on the end ^_^.
But if I do, I'll go back to the old AppleTV Preset w/o CABAC.
Thanks for the info .

Re: How to add movie ratings to iTunes....
A little FYI on tagChimp (from its developer). In an effort to make tagChimp as good as it can be I updated the tagChimp lookup and posting scripts back in February (2009)... I haven't used in a long time, but 90% is pretty decent, in which case, I think I might incorporate it into my new apps. I'l...

Well, thank you very much.
That helps a lot.
CABAC is reported to be working on the 3GS so I'm switching to CABAC now
to. & now my files are quite small. I owe ya .

Re: AppleTV Preset, or stick with Universal
yeah, I noticed that the ATV is now the lowest common denominator in the thread before, I thought that was pathetic how low the ATV has gotten. But that's just in regards to capabilities, apparently resolution is still the same: ATV: HD iPhone: SD? Right? er, until the iPhone can achieve 720p playb...

Re: AppleTV Preset, or stick with Universal
I've switched to using the AppleTV preset exclusively... since the lowest common denominator, the iPhone, can play these files now, I can benefit from the extra space savings found with that preset. Visually, the encodes should look very similar... the differences mainly impact file size. Some may a...

AppleTV Preset, or stick with Universal
I'm getting either an iPhone 3GS or an iPod Touch 3G, I have an iMac, & an AppleTV. Since I heard the 3GS can now play movies encoded with the AppleTV preset, I was thinking about switching strictly to it. Since all my devices will play them. I heard the iPod Touch 3G can play them too; & I ...

Re: AppleScript and do shell script
my sources are pretty consistent -- I use a version of dynaflash's advanced AppleTV settings (soon to become the AppleTV preset), which is basically bf=3:ref=3:8x8dct=1:cabac=1, and crf=23 because my sources are HD Do the files you encode come out much larger than the original? & haha, I didn't...

Re: AppleScript and do shell script
Nice work. Love the name haha. I made something very similar in the app I'm making, but you know what I'm really unsure of (at least in the app I made), whether I should specify an average bitrate, or CQ. I mean DVD are somewhat consistent, but videos from online really arn't. What do you set for vi...

Re: AppleTV: Always defaults to "Commentary" audio track?
Another note of interest: Try this, have a video with 4 audio tracks. 1. AAC/AC3 English - Alt. Group 1 2. French AAC - Alt. Group 2 3. Japanese AAC Alt. Group 2 & then add an English Subtitle track with Alt. Group 2. On the apple tv there will be no audio pane, but there will be a subtitle pane...

Re: How do you update the Apple TVs library?
Why they haven't fixed this yet is beyond me... it really should poll for updates automatically (or receive notification from iTunes that an update is available and grab the changes). Yeah, I'm doing testing seeing how often it automatically syncs. And it seems iTunes tells it to sync when somethin...

How do you update the Apple TVs library?
It seems I can manually update the AppleTV if I quit iTunes & start it back up.
But does anyone know how to do so, other than that?
Does anyone even know how often the ATV updates it's information from iTunes?
I can't seem to figure it out haha.
Thanks

Re: AppleTV: Always defaults to "Commentary" audio track?
There had to be a hack work around until Apple released HD movies. And now it works as expected. I'd bet it would have worked before just as well, we just didn't know how to do it right ;) But your main point is true, once Apple starts publishing multi lang videos it will be much easier to get righ...

Okay, obvious problem - trailers for other movies included on DVDs. Still, it might help narrow things down. Thanks for your suggestion ^__^. We've actually made a lot of progress since that last post though. And it's not a bad idea, but it would be next to impossible to implement something like th...

Re: AppleTV 2.3.1
As I've said elsewhere, it * does* re-enable ac3 in m4v only, which 2.3 had previously borked. Whether that lasts or not is anyones guess. YMMV. So they did change that code. Sorry, I missed that. Guess it's time to redo all of my alternate group tests. But I did redo a few of them and alternate se...
