HandBrake 1.0.3 Problem
Please detail your question or problem in as much detail as possible: I just installed HandBrake 1.0.3 but when I run it all the controls are greyed-out/disabled. I checked the installation folder and there are only 16 items in it. Previous installations, 0.10.5, have 32 items in their installation...

Re: HandBrake 0.10.5 Discussion Thread
What did I miss out on by never using the FDK AAC? Is it really that much better?

Re: HandBrake 0.10.5 Discussion Thread
I'm currently using HandBrake 0.10.2 and have been using the default AAC codec, avcodec. Is that affected by the removal of FDK AAC?
If not, is there a better AAC coded than avcoded in HandBrake 0.10.5?

Re: Encoding Problem with Interlaced m2ts
I reencoded it with the 64-bit version of Handbrake at a constant quality of 26 and the quality is great. I've change so many things, I'm not sure what was going on but finally a good output. HandBrake svn4304 2011102201 OS: Microsoft Windows NT 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600...

Re: Encoding Problem with Interlaced m2ts
mduell, I solved the problem of file size and the dropouts and freezing by encoding the concert using a average bit rate of 6000. The log is below # Windows GUI 0.9.5 2011010300 # Running: Microsoft Windows NT 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 # CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz # Ram: 8174 MB # Sc...

Encoding Problem with Interlaced m2ts
I am having a problem encoding a concert from a Blu-Ray DVD. The .m2ts file is a 16.1 GB, 1920x1080 interlaced. When I tried using it as the source in Handbrake, encoding at a constant quality of 21, the resulting .mp4 file was larger than the source file and wouldn't play. # Windows GUI 0.9.5 20110...

Re: 720x400 Doesn't Expand to Fill 1080p Screen
I didn't have any subtitles selected on the Subtitles tab, however, I had selected English as the Preferred Language on the Audio/Subtitles tab of the HandBrake Options window. I changed the Preferred Language to Any and reencoded the movie and now the .mp4 file expands to fill the 1080p screen. Not...

720x400 Doesn't Expand to Fill 1080p Screen
I have been using HandBrake since version 0.9.3 and an encoding of a standard DVD, 720x400, has always expanded to fill the screen of my 1080p TV. Since I upgraded to verion 0.9.5, a standard DVD encoding no longer expands to fill my 1080p TV. There are black bars on all sides of the picture and it ...

Re: Encoded Video Breaks Up
That fixed the break up problem and unless I'm imagining things, the video seems crisper and the scrolling smoother. Will that setting persist or will I have to set it every time?
Thanks for your help.

I have put a screen capture, Unfaithful.jpg, on my web server that shows what I mean by breaking up.

[Invalid] Encoded Video Breaks Up
I started noticing video breaking up in encodes done with the nightlybuilds starting with svn3441. I first noticed this break up in the movie Unfaithful and it is most noticable in the scrolling credits at the end. Since noticing it in svn3441, I have used svn3458, svn3468 and svn3473 to encode the ...

Re: Clearing Destination File Names

Re: Clearing Destination File Names
I'm running Vista and with it you can clear the "Recent Items" by right clicking on "Recent Items" in the Start menu and selecting "Clear Recent Items List". I cleared my "Recent Items" and the files still appear in the combobox. I tried again to search all my...

Clearing Destination File Names
When I click the 'Browse' button to the right of the 'File:' textbox in the 'Destination:' area, the 'Save As' window opens. And then, when I click down arrow of the 'File name:' combobox, I get a list of files I have encoded in times long past. I've tried searching my drives and registry for some o...

HandBrake SVN3036 Terminated
I was encoding The Rescuers and HandBrake SVN3036 CLI terminated with the following message at the end of the log so I wanted to send it to you: "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.&quo...

Re: Muxing: this may take awhile...
I encoded the movie again and the only change I made was to set Framerate to 23.976 instead of "Same as source" and the encode completed without displaying the "Musing: this may take awhile..." message. Do you think the original error was caused by something going on in my system...

Muxing: this may take awhile...
I was ecoding Splash and the HandBrakeCLI window displayed the message "Muxing: this may take awhile...". The ETA was at 00h00m00s and the fps information was not changing. I opened Task Manager and neither HandBrake or HandBrakeCLI were using any CPU time and their memory usage was static...

Re: HandBrake Snapshot svn2592
The svn2592 snapshot is really great. It is faster and seems to improve the quality of the encoded video. I have used it to encode several Blu-Ray DVDs and it handles the Dolby TrueHD Audio and DTS-HD Master Audio flawlessly which has saved me a lot of time converting the HD audio tracks to AC3. It ...

Re: Problem Encoding Blu-Ray (Defiance)
I downloaded the SVN 2592 snapshot to test it and have a question about installing it. I searched for the answer to the question but was unable to find one. My question is: Is it possible to install the SVN 2592 snapshot along side version 0.9.3 or do I need to remove 0.9.3 before installing the sna...

Re: Problem Encoding Blu-Ray (Defiance)
I appologize for not catching the error. I was focused on the lines that give the count of errors not the word 'error'. I assume you set the 64-bit file size by checking the "Large File Size" box. The source file is 29 GB and that is larger than the 4 GB limit of a 32-bit UNIT so I figured...

Problem Encoding Blu-Ray (Defiance)
I am having problems encoding the Blu-Ray version of Defiance using H.264 in an MP4 container. Since it has a TureHD soundtrack, I extract the H.264 and TrueHD tracks and convert the TrueHD to AC3 using eac3to. Then I remux them into an .m2ts file using tsRemuxer and use the resulting file as the so...
