Blackberry Storm Question

Postby igendreau » Tue Dec 02, 2008 3:46 pm

Just got my storm, and have been ripping using handbrake without a problem. The only issue is on a widescreen movie, the video leaves so much space above and below my video. Not really sure how the cropping works. Could someone tell me how you'd rip for the Storm's resolution (which is 480 x 360 btw)? Thanks!

You can crop the width to 1/3 more pixels than the height and then resize to 480x360, or you can check to see if the Storm has a "full-screen zoom" feature like iPods. The latter would certainly be a lot simpler.

The Storm does have the full screen zoom option. My question is what do you set everything in Handbrake to when you rip a disc?

Where is the full screen zoom? I have a video up right now, it's just a skinny strip down the middle, and clicking on the menu doesn't give me that option?

How do you do this in HB? What Custom crop settings need to be set? Is it trial and error setting the Top / Bottom (Automatic defaults are Top=54 / Bottom =58) to say Top=100 / Bottom = 100?

I am having similar problems. A Blackberry Storm preset would be great. or we could all make our own custom preset if we just knew the correct combination of settings to choose.

If you force to encode the video @ 480 by 360 you get full screen but its stretched out.

Since usually the source is wide screen, and the full resolution of the storm is 480 x 360 (not 16:9) the only way must be is to crop off the edges to make it display full screen without stretching.

Problem is I am not sure how to properly use the cropping features. and possibly there is a magic way with no cropping and achieving full screen. or something vey close to full screen.
