Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen

Post by drewbyty »

Has anyone had any luck using HandBrake with this movie? After I scan the DVD it returns MANY different Titles, all with nearly the same time (not exactly the same however).

Thanks!

Play the movie in WMP/VLC or any other player and take note what chapter plays when you select play movie from the menu. This is the chapter you will want to rip

Play the DVD in VLC, go to Playback on the top bar, and it should list title. Scroll down the titles till you find the checked one and select that same title in handbrake for encoding. I'm encoding that title right now and hope it works. I'll post again if it works. Mine was title 47 but it might be different for others.

use the snapshot and enable libdvdnav in Preferences -> Advanced ( at least in the macgui ). I have heard it works fine.

Even the vaunted anydvd in windows apparently had issues with this title.

On doom9, someone with a slysoft signature said the current version of anydvd can rip this disc. But there are reports that a large batch have a physical defect that will make anydvd fail. I've transcoded the main title on one of these defective discs using the latest handbrake snapshot with dvdnav. The defect seems to be somewhere other than in the main title. As a previous poster pointed out, the main title is 47.

I also ran into issues when trying to rip the dvd with anydvd
When I opened the disc in explorer, I saw an insane amount of titles
So what I did do to finally get it to work was to use dvdshrink, but not to shrink

With anydvd running, and the dvd in the drive
I opened dvdshrink and let read the disc, I then chose the reauthor optiont
I selected main movie, of which it only showed one, phew =)
I then changed the compression to none, and made an iso of just the main movie

From there I used that iso and all went well,
and no I dont know what the real title would be, but doing what I did, it didnt matter

hope this helps

Title 47 for me is 2h, 29m, 47s. Is that what you meant?

It was Title #51 for me that worked, 47 was close but cut off the last three minutes.

After a quick search I found that you use this method:
  • 1. AnyDVD v6.5.9.5 to rip the DVD to several smaller VOB files (8 in total for the actual movie (VTS_08_1 thur _08))
  • 2. VOBMerge to create 1 complete VOB file (7.37GB).
  • 3. Handbrake for the encoding.

Hello,
I am a novice user, what do you mean by title 47 or 51?
Where do I find this or what are the steps?

Thanks
